Victims' Family Members Have A Right to Tell Their Truths Your Presence in Court Thursday Shows Support for the Autobees and Victims'-Values We can’t believe this is something that has to go before a judge and waste the time and resources of the court and the community. But this is a question that must be answered -- and what we will do together at the Douglas County District Courthouse beginning at 9 AM Thursday -- will reaffirm an issue that we thought had been decided long ago. Family members of crime victims must have the right to speak before juries and judges and explain the authentic impact of crime and loss of their loved ones lives-- even if a prosecutor doesn’t agree with what they have to say. What Bob Autobee have to say is this: “We oppose the death penalty.” He's stood outside the courthouse with signs stating his position. He's told the media. The Autobees plan to speak in the courtroom during the trial of their son’s killer, Edward Montour. But District Attorney George Brauchler is trying to muzzled them. He’s stuck their names from the sentencing phase testimony list altogether. Denver Attorney Iris Eytan has filed motion to assert the Autobee’s rights. But really this is about victims everywhere -- and Coloradans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty Foundation supports her motion. Come support Bob and victims’ family members across the country in demanding that all victims be treated with respect and dignity regardless of their views on the death penalty!
