"We knew that this new DNA technology would not only prove people guilty, but also prove people innocent." - Barry Scheck

Dianne,

In 1992 Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld started the Innocence Project as a legal clinic at Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. In our early years, there were no laws that guaranteed the right to post-conviction DNA testing, and the causes of wrongful convictions were still largely unknown. Today, all 50 states have post-conviction DNA testing access statutes and we've successfully advocated for reforms across the U.S. that reduce the factors that contribute to wrongful convictions.

We've come a long way, and as we celebrate the Innocence Project's 25th anniversary this year, we hope you will consider joining us in fighting for justice with a monthly gift of $25.

Twenty-five years ago, we began our work with three lawyers and support from Cardozo Law School students. These initial efforts led to a growing movement and there are now nearly 350 people who have been exonerated thanks to DNA testing. The Innocence Project was involved in more than 180 of these cases.

Today, the Innocence Project is an independent non-profit organization and a leading voice in the movement to reform the criminal justice system. We have more than 75 staff working to represent clients seeking to prove their innocence, advocate for science-based reforms and support exonerees after release.

None of this would be possible without the support we've received over the past two decades from thousands of people like you. The Innocence Project counts on donations to continue advocating for justice and working to free the unknown numbers of innocent men and women who still remain unjustly incarcerated.

In celebration of this milestone 25th anniversary year, we hope you will consider starting a sustaining gift of $25 todayJoin us as an Innocence Partner and together we will fight every month for a future with freedom and justice for all.
