ACA’s 2022 Election Results

The election results are now posted to ACA’s website. Please take a moment to check them out at www.aca.org. Your new officers are Ricky Dixon (FL), President-Elect; Tyrone Oliver (GA), Vice President; and Dr. Harbans Deol (NE), Treasurer, and the balance of results can be found on our website. Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2022 ACA Election. Congratulations to the newly elected leadership!

 

ACA’s Headquarters will be closed for Thanksgiving

ACA’s office will be closed on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25, 2022 for Thanksgiving Day.  ACA’s wishes everyone a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

 

Sheriff Beth Arthur of the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia Announces Retirement

ACA congratulates Sheriff Beth Arthur on her upcoming retirement as Sheriff of the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. She began her career with the Sheriff’s Office in January 1986, as the Budget Analyst under then-Sheriff James Gondles, Jr., and was promoted to Director of Administration in 1988. Sheriff Beth Arthur was elected Sheriff in November 2000 and has been reelected in 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. She was not only the first female Sheriff in Arlington County, but also the first female County Sheriff in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Beth serves as a Board of Governors Representative member to the Executive Committee.  We wish Beth the best of luck!

Director Thomas Stickrath of the Ohio Department of Public Safety Announces Retirement

ACA congratulates Thomas Stickrath on his upcoming retirement as Director of the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Tom has served in public service positions for 43 years. Tom has served six Governors and an Attorney General. He also had the unique experience of being appointed to the Cabinets of three Governors’ (Taft, Strickland, and DeWine) as Director of two different agencies Ohio Department of Youth Services and Ohio Department of Public Safety.  Tom serves as a member of the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections and is currently the Chair.  He received ACA’s highest achievement award, the E.R. Cass in 2009. We wish Tom the best of luck!

Dr. Gondles was the keynote speaker at the North Carolina Correctional Association

Dr. Gondles spoke at the 43rd Annual Training for the North Carolina Correctional Association in Greensboro, North Carolina, November 16-18, 2022.

ACA conducted virtual Advanced Leadership Training- Part 2 for the Virginia Department of Corrections

ACA conducted virtual advanced leadership training- part 2 for the Virginia Department of Corrections, November 14-18, 2022.

Office of Correctional Health Opioid Use Disorder Staff Trainings

OCH also offers staff training for all agency staff on implementing medication for opioid use disorder programs. The curriculum covers all aspects of program implementation and oversight from a medical, behavioral health, security, and administrative perspective.
