Anyone interested in using open source spectral analysis to find toxins?

The Public Lab is sponsoring a challenge to create an application using the open source DIY spectrometer to identify environmental contaminants. Stage 1 appears to be done, but Stage 2 challenge involves building an application.  May be interesting to take on and apply to the needs of Groundwork Colorado?
