I am pleased to announce an updated version of colorForth : cf2022.

The main difference between cf2019 and cf2022 is that cf2022 has an ASCII font, even though it still uses Shannon-Fano encoding for the cf token names.
This is step in the direction of the rest of the programming world.

It occurred to me while I was updating cf2022 that I like colorForth because it is as close to the metal as you can get - I see a connection between colorForth and this video : https://youtu.be/gNRnrn5DE58
colorForth is the equivalent of the Surface Plate that everything else can be referenced too. Just my 2c worth.

Thanks, Howerd, for updating CF-2019 to CF-2022. Using ASCII font "front end" while retaining Shannon font tokens is a promising step toward reconciling "bare metal" CF with conventional "ASCII" Forth. I remember when CF was launched, someone said it reminded him of the ingenious Spectrum computer, where names were entered in ASCII but stored as tokens.

This, and your recent UTC-8 project, will help CF enthusiasts persist with CF on the GreenArrays Eval Board, because the company has now discounted CF and moved entirely to ASCII Forth for programming the GA144 chip.

Many thanks, Howerd, for persistent improvement. I did a Linux dd of CF-2022 onto a USB thumb drive with my old desktop PC, and the thumb drive boots my old Windows Laptop.

(Curiously, the same CF-2022 thumb drive does not boot my old Linux Desktop, even though my  CF-2019 thumb drives always boot. Local hardware problem to sort out).

I think your new "inventio" will be a great help toward use of Chuck's CF as the natural language of his multi-computer chip. To toggle effortlessly between programming in Chuck's coloured tokens and switching effortlessly to conventional ASCII Forth IN THE SAME CF COLOURS and WITH THEIR SAME CF SIGNIFICANCE helps both ways. I once needed to rewrite a CF program for use on a conventional Forth system, and had to retype the whole thing by hand.
