It's that time of the year again - to start prepping another release party!

This release is an LTS release, and with it comes a whole bunch of stabilization to Unity and other packages in the Ubuntu Desktop.  The release date is April 26th - which is a Thursday - so we should aim to have it that weekend ( the following weekend is the start of UDS - so that'll be quite a busy time for some of us I suppose ).  Our last release party was a bit less attended than I had hoped - and I think it was due in large part to the location.  I'm completely open to us having multiple release parties - or at the very least - moving the location to somewhere that can grab the largest portion of interested people.

So that being said - if you're interested - and you want to come - and you have an idea for a general location ( i.e. "Broomfield" or "Downtown Denver" ) - please give a shout out so we can get the ball rolling on this.  Thanks everyone!

Cheers,
David

Thanks, David!

My vote is for "quiet", with a projector. I.e. quiet enough for a presentation to everyone there, or a conversation that everyone can hear.
Boulder and/or the north area would be nice. Google might provide us space in Boulder, as they have before.

Oooh - can we get it for free if we commit to a minimum tab ?

Ah yeah - Google would be another great idea - I hadn't thought of that.  Thanks for the suggestion!

It was quiet enough for my friend's wedding; it is closed off. I'll have to check on reservation costs if applicable but will let you know. How many people are we considering to bring & hov much do you estimate we could spend on food & bev? That may be the negotiating leverage I'll need to make it free...

I like the idea of Google too...that'd be a treat!

They have wifi, and noise level is reasonable.  As a matter of fact, starting next month, we are moving the beer social there.

If it's like other bars/restaurants I've used for group meetings it will be free.  They make money by selling drinks and food.

Kevin,
to Rock Bottom or Google? I'm assuming Rock Bottom since it's literally next to Bar Louie's but wanted to make sure.

Yes, right next door, next to the theatre.

Nick - We usually can promise at least $400 in business and a group of about 15-20 - could be more because that location is probably more ideal.  Would you mind giving them a call and seeing what the terms are?

Thanks man!

Sorry, got distracted....

Rock bottom will allow us a minimum $350 on Sunday April 29th, but Friday & Saturday will be a $1500 minimum....so I'm guessing that leaves only Sunday unless we plan on becoming a band of geek gluttons and drunkards.

I think Sunday is actually a better choice - less conflict with other weekend activities.

Thanks,

I AM a glutton and drunkard, but can't promise to be THAT much of a glutton and drunkard.

"This is a Coulomb balance, and that is all there is to it. It is simple, like the flute of Hamlet, you only have to know how to play on it, and just like the musician who can delight you with splendid variations, the physicist can, on this balance, with no less delight determine the finest variations of gravity. This way we can peer into such depth of the crust of the Earth, that neither our eyes, nor our longest drills could reach."

Awesome - I think Sunday works really well in general for the group - so I'll give them a call tomorrow and see about reserving it.  Thanks for doing all of the legwork Nick!

Cheers,
David
