Nibbling on new snacks, sampling buzzy product drops, and putting cookware to use in the Test Kitchen is all in a day’s work at Bon Appétit. And our love of (and opinions about!) food and cooking don't disappear when we clock out—we’re always looking to optimize our own kitchens and pantries too. And lucky for you, we don't gatekeep: We love nothing more than sharing our recs for the tools, ingredients, and new releases we have in heavy rotation outside of BA headquarters.

Find out what BA editors are eyeing, buying, and have in their carts right now.

BY BON APPÉTIT EDITORS

A perhaps controversial opinion: Chocolate actually makes an excellent Valentine's Day gift. It’s not a cop-out, it’s not overdone—it’s classic. If you’re getting the good stuff, that is. An eleventh hour stop at Walgreens for a heart-shaped box of Russell Stover on Feb. 14 on the way to your date is not going to cut it.

I pinged the Bon Appétit team Slack to see if anyone had strong opinions about chocolate. And boy, they sure did! Editorial operations manager Kate Kassin was quick to recommend Spring & Mulberry's date-sweetened bars, which look like works of art thanks to inlaid ingredients like flower petals, dried fruit, and coconut flakes. Speaking of dates: Senior editor Joe Sevier loves these chocolate-covered, nut-butter-stuffed, versions of the fruit from Gato. (And they come in the sweetest candy-colored tubes!)

Click through to see more editor-approved confections, mood-setting gifts, and drinks to impress your date, including a pre-mixed cocktail that one editor says tricked his dinner party guests into thinking he spent hours behind the bar prepping perfectly portioned drinks.
