Wine is fine, but these are better |

We’re adults; we know that we can't arrive at a friend’s soirée empty-handed. But we also know that said friend might not fully appreciate an unsolicited store-bought dessert or bouquet of flowers. Of course they’ll smile and say, “Thank you, how generous!” but really they might be thinking, “I already made dessert, dummy.”
I think about these things (hi, social anxiety!), and maybe you do too. In which case, I'm thrilled to relieve you of the uncomfortable mental gymnastics. BA editors love to throw a dinner party, and seeing as their hosting abilities are unimpeachable, senior writer Emily Farris thought it wise to ask them for their thoughts on the type of token they'd be delighted to receive. Their answers, unsurprisingly, are very thoughtful and very good.

A bottle of wine is a good dinner party host gift for a whole, well, host of reasons: It’s easy to pick up on your way, it’s likely to get consumed that night, it will last if it doesn’t, and it’s infinitely regiftable.
But what if the host doesn’t drink? Or if you just want to be the guest who shows up with something a little more creative? In either case, we have recommendations for delightful party favors that are guaranteed to earn you a repeat invite.
