Hello all,

I'm trying to build a model of an underwater wreck. I have a series of photos (1sec timelapse) done with a gopro (n=1097). I get 4 modes:  one with 816 images (see below), and then with 55, 151, and 44 images.

A) is there a way to assist COLMAP into combining these 4 models into a a single model after the model is done??

B) I also recorded video at 30fps with a 2nd gopro at the same time. If I can't merge the 4 models, is there a way to identify at which point the break happens, so I can grab screenshots from the video (which will be lower res, unfortunately) and add them to the original 1097 images to help bridge the gap?

I'm happy to upload the full data set if people want to see what they can get out of it, it's ~ 2.5Gb.

Cheers,
Alex

If your connectivity is not good, try the "guided" matching option and try to enable "domain size pooling" and "affine features" in the extraction stage.

This should significantly improve the results.

I reran with those parameters, but it seemed to be very quick - do I need to purge/delete the database and redo the extraction stage and matching stage from scratch, or by re-running it did it update the features/matching?

Also, I put the dataset of pictures here in case anyone else can try different settings:

If you want to retain the old database, create a copy, open it, database management > clear matches / inlier matches, run guided matching.
