NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS
COLLEGE STREET CORRIDOR CONCEPT PLAN
Tuesday January 22nd and February 5th 2013
5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Abundant Life Church
NE Corner of Park Central Square
Happy New Year!
You are invited to participate in the ongoing effort to develop a concept plan for streetscape, gateway and Route 66 Roadside Park improvements within the College Street Corridor planning area (Grant Avenue to Kansas Expressway). Your ideas will also be used in future planning along the former Route 66 corridor through Springfield.
The last meeting (November 29, 2011) was devoted to a visual preference survey whereby participants expressed their preference for the future “personality” of the corridor through a ballot and comments. The results of that meeting are attached to this message. As you see in the attached summary, the category of “Traditional Americana” was the overwhelming choice. An on-line survey is also available through the College Street planning web page found at www.springfieldmo.gov/collegestreet if you were not able to attend the meeting or if you know anyone who would like to express their opinions.
The upcoming meetings will offer alternative ways to develop the elements within the Traditional Americana category. Even though we know the preference is for this concept, we still need to get your preferences within the category. Great River Associates, the City’s consulting engineering firm, will prepare the alternatives and be on hand, along with City staff, to present and discuss them with you.
