Dear Professors and Scholars,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my strong interest in exploring possibilities for research collaboration and postdoctoral opportunities under your guidance. I have been closely engaging with scholarly work in sociology and related interdisciplinary areas, and I believe that academic collaboration would be mutually enriching.
I, Vandana Joshi, currently a Research Scholar in Sociology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi,India. I am in the final stage of my Ph.D. My doctoral research focuses on “The Impact of Feminization of Agriculture on Agricultural Productivity and Household Dynamics”, situated in the NCR region of Rajasthan. Through a mixed-methods approach, my work examines gendered labor, rural transformation, household relations, and structural inequalities shaping agrarian livelihoods. This research is grounded in rural sociology, gender studies, marginalization, and social inequality.
Prior to my PhD, I completed my M.Phil. in Sociology, where my dissertation examined the impact of Indian cinema on the social values of adolescents, reflecting my engagement with cultural sociology, media studies, and youth socialization. This work strengthened my interest in understanding culture, representation, and social change within contemporary Indian society.
My broader research interests include rural sociology, cultural sociology, gender studies, marginalization and social inequality, tribal studies, migration, subaltern studies, and the sociology of religion. I am particularly interested in studying how structural forces intersect with everyday lived experiences of marginalized communities.
As part of my academic journey, I had the opportunity to present my research work at Institute for European Ethnology,Humboldt University ,Berlin,Germany in the 4th colleex workshop "Styles of Experimentation unsettling the Anthropological Syllabus, where my work was discussed and appreciated by scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. This experience further deepened my commitment to qualitative methods, participatory research, and ethnographic inquiry.
I am having a bright academic record with Undergraduate in sociology Honours( 8.55 CGPA), Masters in Sociology (9.4 CGPA), Mphil( 9.8CGPA). Also qualified for Senior Research Fellowship for my research work which is a highly competitive and graceful fellowship.
I am highly motivated to engage in collaborative research, contribute to ongoing projects, and further develop my academic profile through postdoctoral research. I am eager to learn, contribute meaningfully to the discipline of sociology, and work in an intellectually stimulating academic environment that encourages critical inquiry and collaborative scholarship.
I would be grateful for the opportunity to discuss potential avenues for collaboration or postdoctoral work. I am happy to share my CV, publications, or research proposal at your convenience.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of academic engagement and collaboration.
Warm regards,
Vandana Joshi
