Dear all,

You are invited to join us for the October rendition of our documentary filmmaking workshop "The Stories Our Bodies Hold". The workshop will focus on embodiment as a lens for making short films, and each participant will leave with their own short documentary, related to the topic of their choosing.

The workshop will be held over the course of a month, with 2 hour sessions on 15, 22, 29 October and 5 November from 7 - 9 PM BST. As this is a collaborative workshop, up to 12 people (with any level of filmmaking experience) are invited to book a space join us:

The workshop is inherently multi-disciplinary and touches on themes of embodiment, phenomenology, experimental filmmaking, and documentary, and researchers, artists, filmmakers, and students from all disciplines are welcome to join. No prior experience is required, just an interest in making a short film.

We will focus largely on directing and the filmmaking process by experimenting with practices of embodiment in film, and participants will have a chance to develop their technical skills in camera, sound, and editing throughout the month. We have had people make short films from an embodied lens on topics ranging from health, disability, race, sexuality, gender, age, class, and environment, with styles ranging from experimental film to visual ethnography to observational documentary.

The workshop is for participants who have been marginalised by gender (women, trans, and non-binary people), with free spaces for queer women, trans and non-binary BIPOC. Do consider joining us!

Many thanks,
