HiPEAC Reproducibility Student Challenge

HiPEAC conference
18 January 2024
Munich, Germany

Are you an undergraduate student, or just starting your master's studies... or about to finish them? Are you doing your doctorate and thinking about your future career options?

Perhaps you're interested in a research career but don't know whether academia is right for you. Or perhaps you are interested in finding out what kind of research is done in industry, or learning about the different sectors where computing researchers are needed.

If you are asking yourself some of these questions, we have just the session for you: the Reproducibility Student Challenge at the HiPEAC conference in Munich on 18 January.

Get hands-on experience of the latest high-quality research being carried out in computer science, European projects and industry. Contribute towards reproducibility, helping to shape the future of computer architecture research. Plus, you get to spend a full day at the HiPEAC conference, a research and development environment where you can share your work, ask questions and network with some of the top professors and researchers in the world.

Interested? Here's how to get involved:

  1. Form a team
You'll need a mentor (a professor or local senior researcher who can help you and guarantee the required standard of your work), plus fellow students either from your university or other universities (undergraduate, master's or PhD).

  2. Register your team
Email the organizers (see emails below) indicating your full name, your university, the level of your studies (undergraduate, master's or PhD) and your mentor.
    Deadline: 15 September 2023

  3. Reproduce a scientific paper
Select a paper (with code) accepted for the HiPEAC conference, either the 2024 edition or previous years – the organizers can help you select a suitable paper.
Work to build/run and produce the results of the paper, either using your local computing resources or remote resources if needed.
Optional: Improve or optimize the proposed solution in the paper.

  4. Write and submit a report
Produce a report about the work done (in the form of a scientific-style paper). Based on these reports, we will select the four best performing teams to present their work.

  5. Present your work
Prepare a presentation of your work and present it at the Reproducibility Student Challenge on Thursday, 18 January 2024 at the HiPEAC conference.

We look forward to your submissions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the organizers.
