register: webinar 30th April 2024 Tuesday 30 April 2024: AEDT 9am / NZDT 11am / EDT 7pm AI Planning & Experiments:Abbey Potter (Library of Congress) & Margaret Warren (State Library of Queensland) in conversation.
Abbey Potter on behalf of the Library of Congress reported on the AI Planning Framework at the Fantastic Futures 2023 conference hosted by the Internet Archive. The Library developed the framework as part of their exploration of emerging technologies, more recently artificial intelligence technologies and in particular machine learning. The Framework is ground-breaking in the evidence base it draws on and its comprehensive view on examining and as appropriate embedding AI technologies into best practice in digital cultural heritage.
Over an hour Abbey will briefly introduce the AI Planning Framework and Margaret Warren on behalf of State Library of Queensland will report on two experiments the Library has undertaken based on use cases. Their reflections on capturing user needs and navigating complex stakeholder and ethical challenges will be discussed to shed light on what it takes to plan for, explore and operationalise machine learning with cultural heritage collections.
