Dear Colleagues

We are pleased to invite you to REGISTER and reserve your spot (places are limited) (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/glam-labs-futures-tickets-1984226407599) for the free GLAM Labs Futures event taking place on 25–26 June 2026 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

More information about the event, including information about accommodation and travel is available here: https://www.glamlabs.io/events/glam-labs-futures-26

Organised by the International GLAM Labs Community and the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Cluster at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (University of Edinburgh) , this two-day, in-person event will bring together GLAM professionals and researchers to explore the evolving role of Labs in the digital cultural heritage ecosystem.

About the event

Over the past decade, GLAM Labs have emerged, evolved, and in some cases disappeared. They have shifted service models and approaches, while also contributing to broader developments in digital collections, data infrastructures, and reuse.

At the same time, many organisations face limited resources to establish and sustain Labs, alongside rapid technological change and new expectations around data, engagement, and impact.
This event will address key questions, including what the value of GLAM Labs is today, how Labs can align with wider research data infrastructures, what new models and sustainable approaches are emerging, and whether Labs are designed to last or to evolve.

GLAM Labs Futures will strengthen collaboration between research and practice, explore the future of experimental digital heritage spaces, and contribute to a shared vision for the future of GLAM Labs.

We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh for what promises to be a thought-provoking and forward-looking event.

With best wishes,

The GLAM Labs Futures Event Team

Sarah Ames (National Library of Scotland), Gustavo Candela (University of Alicante), Nele Gabriels (KU Leuven Libraries), Katrine Hofmann Gasser (Royal Danish Library), Olga Holownia (International Internet Preservation Consortium), Andrea Kocsis (DCH, University of Edinburgh), Mahendra Mahey (Tallinn University, National Museum of Estonia and University of Strathclyde) and Coleman Tharpe (University of Edinburgh)
