Organised by the
International GLAM Labs Community and the Digital Cultural Heritage Research Cluster at the
Edinburgh Futures Institute (University
of Edinburgh) , this two-day, in-person event will bring together GLAM
professionals and researchers to explore the evolving role of Labs in
the digital cultural heritage ecosystem.
About the event
Over
the past decade, GLAM Labs have emerged, evolved, and in some cases
disappeared. They have shifted service models and approaches, while also
contributing to broader developments in digital collections, data
infrastructures, and reuse.
At the same time, many
organisations face limited resources to establish and sustain Labs,
alongside rapid technological change and new expectations around data,
engagement, and impact.
This event will address key questions,
including what the value of GLAM Labs is today, how Labs can align with
wider research data infrastructures, what new models and sustainable
approaches are emerging, and whether Labs are designed to last or to
evolve.
GLAM Labs Futures will strengthen
collaboration between research and practice, explore the future of
experimental digital heritage spaces, and contribute to a shared vision
for the future of GLAM Labs.
We look forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh for what promises to be a thought-provoking and forward-looking event.
With best wishes,
The GLAM Labs Futures Event Team
