Hello,
I am just starting to plan a short retreat for the librarians here with collection development responsibilities. The pattern at my university has mostly been letting faculty tell us what they want us to order, and I would like people to start thinking of Collection Development as a professional skill.
I will be attending the Charleston Conference in November, so hopefully I’ll be able to bring something back from that. Does anyone have other suggestions for me? For example, is there a particular person who writes or speaks about CD competencies? An existing list of competencies? I’ve looked at a couple of libraries’ training manuals, so I will start with those to see how I can adapt them to a retreat.
Thanks in advance.
