Hi Eryk,

We have been playing with Collage Workbench, and managed to get a C++ program working with the ability of editing it. When the user runs the experiment, the C++ program is automatically recompiled and executed. We used the C++ source files as input data.

It is published here:

https://collage.elsevier.com/collage/template?doi=10.0000/1348077126292

Could you please tell me if this approach is okay. It gives users the ability to see and edit the source code, and a shell script does the job of compiling and executing.

Some days ago you said that if the C++ program had many files, we could use a directory and put all the sources in a directory. Then, in the article page, we would be able to navigate through the files. I still did not manage to do it. We tried to add the source directory as input data, but Collage did not allow me, saying that it must be a file.  Could you help regarding this?

thank you very much
regards

Rafael

Hi Rafael,

Thank you for investigation this approach and glad it's working. First of all, I'll change the configuration of Authoring Workbench so we can share test experiments as yours - so far only "Share for me only" is enabled so no one except the author is granted to see the experiment, and that's why the experiment you provided a link to is not working for us. During this weekend we plan to upgrade the Authoring Workbench including this fix and after that I would like to ask you to re-release your test experiment and share a link to it so we all are allowed to see it.

Regarding putting files in a directory that is browsable in a single Collage Widget it's going to be included it this upgrade as well.

I'll be back on this issue after upgrading the Authoring Workbench, so let's stay tuned.

Hi Eryk, thanks for the update. That's great news.

We are looking forward for these updates. After testing them with our
executable paper, I would like to discuss with you about optional
uploaders of collage.

thanks

Hi Rafael,

Let me come back to your case. Could you please release once again the experiment you mention in the public scope (using "Release to all" option) so we all can see it?
