I know we had a hard date for the next meeting in two weeks, but there was talk of a small meeting this weekend. Does that sound like a good idea? Who would be able (and willing) to attend?

Regards,

-Josh

Given the lack of response I can assume we will be meeting next week?

(Sanford, that's your cue. ;)

-Josh

I wasn't doubting interest! Just wanted to make sure I was clear on when we were meeting. I hate missing things.

Guys -

I have heard from two people that they would be coming - I am going to be delayed for about an extra hour.  I will be there at 1pm tomorrow.

I came across this Java cheatsheet which was very good in a number of aspects.  -- http://introcs.cs.princeton.edu/11cheatsheet/

Very clear and simple to read
Good order of section headings
No fluff, just stuff

This I would find good for learning Javascript for example, as it's examples let you quickly see the Java specific syntax. We are targeting programmers so to know any of the specific variances on one page is great.

What would be really cool is a tool that would auto-generate tooltips for each term in a line of code in a file being viewed, so that when you hover over a term you seen an explanation. Do any IDE's or editors over anything like this? If not, somebody should write this in javascript!

Ron - if you use Aptana - I think that capability exists already...

Sanford, are you using Aptana? It would be nice to have the group members list their favorite editors and or IDE's and a key feature they like in each one.

Actually - I use a number of IDEs - but my favorite tool is TextMate.

And I have the space reserved for this coming Saturday from 11 to 4pm.

Just got done speaking with ITAC and will be speaking with other efforts as well.

+1 for TextMate or VIM. Also JSFiddle is an exceptionally useful tool, especially when you want to play with different frameworks or test out functionality quickly.

Personally, I enjoy using VIM (MacVim on OS X to be specific), but I'd also suggest TextMate, as well as TextWrangler, for those who don't want to pony up the $49 for TextMate.

On the Windows front, I'd suggest Notepad++ for beginners. Although it doesn't provide a language reference by default, I think it functions as a great replacement for the Notepad application that comes packaged with Windows.

JSFiddle also looks to be a very powerful tool (I hadn't heard of it until today).
