Not sure if anyone on this list is interested in this gig but they are looking for a strong Perl front-end developer, which in my mind is an odd combination, but perhaps we have someone in our group that could help them. Job Description:
You will be part of a team that’s very visible and is highly valued throughout the organization. You will contribute to the design and implementation of our major products and services. Your knowledge of MVC frameworks will go hand-in-hand with front-end skills to create high-quality, content-rich websites. This includes but is not limited to: working with ORM/active record models, writing and implementing web services APIs, developing reusable modules, and building solid user interfaces that adhere to usability and accessibility best practices for the web.
Perl Web Developers are expected to work independently but also in collaboration with Web Producers and Technical Managers to innovate and create web applications. We like to work aggressively but also set realistic expectations in meeting our business and development needs. We follow an agile development methodology, so you will be working on small teams, adapting quickly and in short cycles.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop high-performance websites built on MVC frameworks in PHP or Perl.
• Work within a team to manage, optimize and customize multiple websites. • Creating scripts, tools, and unit tests to assist in product development, maintenance, and QA.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years software development experience or equivalent, including object-oriented design and Perl/PHP development.
• Experience in MVC frameworks required. Previous experience with CodeIgniter is a huge plus.
• High level of proficiency with front-end technologies such as XHTML/CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX.
• Deep understanding and appreciation for creating usable and accessible sites that work on multiple platforms and across major web browsers.
• Direct experience with web application architecture and relational database design.
• Familiarity with the LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Perl).
• Experience in building database-driven applications and websites.
• Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Understanding of caching and performance optimization techniques such as CDNs, memcache, opcode cache, and file-system caching.
• Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing (SEM).
• Strong presentation, communication, and collaboration skills, enabling effective interaction and knowledge transfer to teammates and other departments within the company.
• A high task load is expected. You should be able to work within tight deadlines while exhibiting exemplary time management and task prioritization.
• Positive attitude and professionalism in the workplace as well as a great sense of humor is always appreciated.
