As Google Groups is dropping support for group pages and files, we probably need to find a new place for them. For safety, I downloaded all the archives and I am keeping a backup copy. There are a few options for the new place: a Google Pages website or a shared Docs folder (to stay on google services), or a section on the original website, other file hosting services.

However, before I start setting up anything myself, I was wondering what is the current status of the project. Any chance to see updates? Is opening the source still not an option?

Good looking out on grabbing backups of everything, but I don't blame
you for not wanting to set anything up if this project is indeed
dead. Opening the source for this application would be amazing and
I'd be happy to pitch in on getting Colibri back up to date.

I second dreadnought's question though, is this project dead or what?

I've recently opened a github repository at

https://github.com/catch22/colibri

and will later today migrate the google group pages to the wiki there.

Would anyone be interested in assisting me with the process of
* migrating the skin files to github (we might need to contact the authors and get their permission to do so)
* getting the source code onto github (i.e. checking whether colibri still compiles on recent VS versions)
?

Best,
Michael

Oh, the best Christmas present! :-)  Thanks!

For the first step, I just wrote an e-mail to the skin authors. Regarding testing, I have a VS2010 installed here, and I can get my hands on 2008 in January I think.

Feel free to use my skins. Thanks for backing them up -- not even sure if I have the original sources anymore. Best of luck with the project -- hope you take a leaf out of SlickRun's book.

Dear Fran,

thanks for doing so, I'll get back to you in private mail. If someone
else feels like volunteering as well, please raise your hand ;)

Best,
Michael

No problema at all :)

I got an email from praet too, he's fine to "open-source" his skins, and he'd like to be added to the github project when it's up.

Which reminds me that I need an account there too :p

Hey,

I've recently uploaded colibri's source code to github (under the MIT license).
In fact, the version I uploaded is a somewhat newer version than the latest official release (see doc/CHANGELOG.txt). I believe it is also missing the NSIS installer script (but I might find that somewhere in my backups). I will soon update colibri.leetspeak.org so that it redirects to colibri.github.com.

Best,
Michael

I have starting looking through the source code, and except for the lack of Boost, Visual Studio 2010 seems happy about the project file.

Therefore, I installed and compiled Boost, but I ended up with 6GB of libraries and headers. Now, doubts arise :-)  Is that normal, or did I just need a subset?  I'll go through the project and see what is actually required, I think.

I believe the version of Colibri that I uploaded only requires some of the boost headers (like shared_ptr). At any rate, I suggest you follow boost's "Getting started" guide and use the BoostPro installer. Once boost is installed, you should only need to add boost_1_45_0 to the global list of include directories (and perhaps boost_1_45_0/lib to the global list of library directories).

Best,
Michael
