I suggest more research attention to technical interference ("jamming") of Western radio broadcasts by the Soviet and East European regimes during the Cold War.  George Woodard provided an overview in his chapter "Cold War Radio Jamming," in  Johnson and Parta (eds.), Cold War Broadcasting. Rimantas Pleikys has examined jamming in numerous publications, including
РАДИОЦЕНЗУРА Статья Вильнюс, 2002-2003 г.
Prokop Tomek has examined jamming in Czechoslovakia in his article RUŠENÍ ZAHRANIČNÍHO ROZHLASOVÉHO VYSÍLÁNÍ PRO ČESKOSLOVENSKO
Documentaries  on the subject include:
Empire of Noise. 2007. Radio Baltic Waves, Lithuania.

Glos nadjeje (Voice of Hope). 2002. Maciej Drygas, Poland, Polish with English subtitles.

The relaunched  RFE/RL Bulgarian Service recently posted a documentary on jamming of foreign radio broadcasts by Bulgaria during the Cold War.  It is available here:

I welcome additional references and information on this issue, including country studies, documents on the subject from the Soviet bloc regimes, testimony of jammers, and recordings of jammed Western broadcasts.
