Dear CCC member
Some of you may remember Alan Palmer, cycling campaigning stalwart and long-time member of CTC (now Cycling UK), who died in 2019. Alan's cycling legacy in Colchester will be remembered by us all for a long time due to his commitment to and enthusiasm for the social side of cycling. Alan re-established the CTC Sunday ride group which is still going strong, presumably owing to Alan's impeccable timing for reaching a cafe stop for elevenses! You can read the late Pam Nelson's words on Alan
here.
In memory of Alan, Colchester City Council have agreed to name a path after him so it will be forever Alan Palmer Way. The chosen location is on the new Cowdray Centre estate, linking Arclight Way with the tunnel under the railway bridge - nice and flat, which would presumably be to Alan's approval! You can see the route either at the photo below or online
here. We are raising £100 to pay for the installation of two signs - one at each end of Alan Palmer Way.
Please consider making a donation, however big or small. Any excess funds will be donated to Cycling UK to help them continue their work championing cycling for all. Please send donations to:
