Ifyou're using Pro Tools, AAX plug-ins (or RTAS for older versions) are what you need. Most other Mac DAWs support AU plug-ins. VST is compatible with a number of Mac and Windows programs. Be sure you choose plug-ins that work with your DAW!

Imagine this: you're typing on your computer, in whatever language you fancy. Out of your monitors emerges a world-class symphonic choir, singing your words in the key you're playing live on your keyboard controller. If you've just pinched yourself to see if you're dreaming, Sweetwater can assure you: you're not. EastWest Quantum Leap Hollywood Choirs Diamond makes it happen. This amazing 24-bit virtual choir instrument includes provides a 13-mic setup that incorporates a Neumann Dummy Head. For film, TV, and game composers, this enables complete control over stereo, surround sound, and virtual-reality perspectives.

Not only does EastWest Quantum Leap Hollywood Choirs' word building software let you type in words for your Choirs to sing; the Mac- and PC-compatible WordBuilder plug-in also includes a drop-down menu with 28 common Latin phrases you can load instantly. As many choirs sing in this classical language, this is a real time saver. Phrases are optimized for each Choir, and the menu is customizable so you can add your own phrases for quick access.

hello composer

i have a question about the coir library, and particularly the choir library with sequencer

how do you build your phrases to get a very epic sound when playing ? do you have any tips to share

i use mars from soundiron, lacrimosa from 8dio and symphonic choir from eastwest cloud composer

all of them have a lot of possibility and great sound

This will sound a bit unusual, but I have in fact not used the word builder in Soundiron choirs. I use the patches where there is a knob to change words, and then I map the mod wheel to it. Then I simply draw in random changes with the mod wheel to change the words over time.

i am searching again for a Linux alternative

this time for choirs or backup singers

like thise offered from EastWest:

Hoping for any help

Better to look for samples than plugins that are just packaged sample players/romplers. Companies won't ever make these plugins available for Linux but there already exists great plugins to use samples if you get them separately.

I'm not sure to whom you were replying. The immediate prior post talked about using sets of Pianobook choir samples, packaged for the DecentSampler sample player, which is available natively for linux: ... er-plugin/

OT slightly ewql opus

Posted by Philip Woodroffe - 06 Jun 04:34PM Hide picture has anyone used the new ewql opus program yet, it says that its compatible with sibelius, I wondered if this allows for automated loading of sounds or if its just manual without play without soundsets. please give me an idea of any features that are beneficial for use with sibelius over play.

its not currently available in general but may be available for separate purchase in future.

thanks.

Great VST, but I am not aware of any automatic loading or sounds through soundsets or anything like that.

Lovely VST to use in a DAW program like Reaper or Cubase or Pro Tools etc.

Posted by Peter Roos - 07 Jun 11:48PM Hide picture Hi Philip:

Yes, it mentions Sibelius as compatible, which means Opus shows up in the list of available VSTs in Sibelius. But that in itself means little in terms of usability, you'll still a soundset for that, and I am not aware of a soundset for Opus.

'Opus' is actually many instruments, you can view it as the new generatuion of "Play", with more features, including orchestrator and a synth called 'forbidden planet' which was just released.

Posted by Robin Walker - 08 Jun 05:02PM Hide picture The question I would like answered is:

Is the new "Opus" player sufficiently compatible with the old "Play" player in respect of the features used by Sibelius (such as keyswitches) that the existing Sibelius SoundSets for use with EWQL sample libraries and "Play", can also be used with "Opus" and the same sample libraries?

Hi Robin:

It's a completely new animal.

As far as I know any soundsets that were developed for the old Play libraries, will not work with Opus.

But I could be totally wrong.

I stopped using soundsets for EW years ago. It's too complicated.

Posted by Peter Roos - 16 Jun 03:29AM Hide picture I believe Jonathan has moved on years ago, not necessarily because of Covid or anything, but the 'soundset market' is a pretty small niche market. I never asked him but it seems to me it's not possible to make a living selling soundsets for Sibelius in this day and age, given the small user base. I could be wrong.

That said, Opus is pretty cool in a DAW. EW just released 'forbidden planet', their first synth. Looks and sounds great.

As to integration of Sibelius and VSTs, I doubt they'll ever be smoothly integrated. For orchestral scores NotePerformer works well to get a reasonable mockup, but mockups in a DAW will always be better. And live player will always be best.

Peter roos thank you for this feedback, I was mainly concerned that he was still in good health in this current climate more than anything.

I dont think I will ever get into DAW in my current mode of music entry as I just do it as a bit of fun not a serious thing. I had a little look at forbidden planet and it looks amazing, a really huge collection too.
