Dear CoLangers,
As previous participants of CoLang, you know that our institute is a vital part of the global mission to pursue language justice. Our biennial institutes welcome hundreds of participants to partake in community-based documentation and revitalization efforts. Accessibility is important to us: that’s why our Web Committee was established in 2020 to maintain our permanent digital presence, including a publicly accessible repository of workshop and planning materials as well as our website.
We are writing to you today because the CoLang Web Committee needs your help. The funding we have received in the past from the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage has expired (thank you to the CFCH for the support thus far!) and we have until December 31, 2025 to raise $2,000 for our yearly operational expenses in 2026.
A donation of just $20 will fulfill 1% of our goal, allowing us to continue maintaining our digital archives and website in order to keep language revitalization resources accessible to all.
If you have ever been a CoLang participant or are a student, teacher, language activist, and/or community member who has benefited from our digital resources, we ask you to please consider donating to the CoLang Web Committee. Your generous gift will allow us to continue to maintain and build CoLang’s digital presence. Even $5 can make a difference.
Even if you can’t donate, we’d love your support in other ways:
Share this campaign with classmates, professors, community members, or anyone you know who cares about language justice work. Consider forwarding to academic listservs or forums if those are available to you.
