“The Real Death Valley,” an Original Investigative Documentary

On November 11^th at 9:00pm EST will premiere “The Real Death Valley,” an original Weather Channel documentary that chronicles the harrowing migrant journey across South Texas that has resulted in hundreds of deaths.  This hour-long special will expose on national television Border Patrol’s seeming indifference to migrant 911 distress calls made from the brush and the inexcusable delayed rescue responses that have resulted in death.

Now we are asking for your help! This event is a rare opportunity for millions of viewers to see first-hand the injustice and suffering occurring on American soil and the wasted tax dollars for a federal law-enforcement agency that is failing public safety.  In order to have the maximum impact we urge you to rally around the film, send out the premiere information to your organization’s members, and to take political action!  We encourage organizations to have viewing parties or screenings, learn more about Brooks County and other areas of the U.S./ Mexico border that lack federal funding and resources to aid migrants in distress, pressure Congress to hold the Border Patrol accountable for the immediate 911 emergency response it ought to provide, and otherwise elicit public support through grassroots efforts. 

In the last 5 years, 407 migrant remains have been discovered in Brooks County alone, which is considered to be a small percentage of the total death toll in the region.  The average Border Patrol response time for migrant distress calls in this small area in 2013 was over 2 hours, which proved in some cases to be too little too late.  In 2013 and 2014, scores of mass graves containing migrant remains disgracefully comingled in trash bags were disinterred from a Brooks County paupers’ cemetery further uncovering the reprehensible treatment of migrants.
