Hi everyone.
I've been testing for a while (not so much due to work issues) and collected some "things"

Stock > Categories

<request> It would be nice a tree-like view mode
<issue>    It's not possible to delete a Category once created

Stock > Products

<request> Add a "vendor" or "manufacturer" or "something-like-that" field
<request> It will never be possible to have products with multiple 'reference' but the same '(bar)code'?

Main

<bug>       When browsing products: if a Category contains products with associated image it doesn't open
(and it's not possible to remove an image)
<request> Searching products by 'Code' and/or 'Reference'
<request> When adding a product without a ticket set, do not raise an error but add a new ticket

Main > Pay

<bug>       Change is not calculated
<issue>     The discount applied is not displayed but only calculated
.

<requests> It would be nice to have:
  • some tools to manage reservations
  • a tool to manage products price
  • multiple taxes % (we have three, for example)

My (first) two cents

Reagrds,

S.

That's a good idea. Will work on that.

<issue>    It's not possible to delete a Category once created

You are right, there is a bug (now fixed). Thanks!
Also note that by design, you are not allowed to delete a category which has products under it or other sub-categories. I thought it makes sense that way. What do you think?

Stock > Products

<request> Add a "vendor" or "manufacturer" or "something-like-that" field

I wanted to add a "supplier" field. But it's part of a major revamp, so it will probably come with a lot of other things. Also what do you think the right name is? (English is not my native language so I'm just guessing)

<request> It will never be possible to have products with multiple 'reference' but the same '(bar)code'?

I was under the impression that a barcode is a unique identifier for products... Can you give me an example where this is not the case?

Main

<bug>       When browsing products: if a Category contains products with associated image it doesn't open
(and it's not possible to remove an image)

I'll have to check that later. (and the image thing might change later with the other stuff)

<request> Searching products by 'Code' and/or 'Reference'

Good point. Right now it only matches exact code, and does not look at the reference field.

<request> When adding a product without a ticket set, do not raise an error but add a new ticket

Good point. Will do.

Main > Pay

<bug>       Change is not calculated

I can't seem to reproduce it right now, will look into it.

<issue>     The discount applied is not displayed but only calculated

Right. What fields do you expect to see in the main view in your opinion? Now it's "quantity  description           price +taxes         total"

.

<requests> It would be nice to have:
  • some tools to manage reservations
This might have to wait because there's too much on the TODO list now, but it is definitely important
  • a tool to manage products price
Can you elaborate a bit? You want a place where you just pick the product and change prices / taxes / discount for example?
  • multiple taxes % (we have three, for example)
This is in the taxes module and is coming with the makor revamp.

My (first) two cents

Thank you, really appreciate it.
I will work on this ASAP. Either friday or this weekend, and tomorrow I'll add all of this to github so that I can keep track of things.

S.

OK first of all thanks for your (fast) answers.

I think it makes (a lot of) sense to me too.

I wanted to add a "supplier" field. But it's part of a major revamp, so it will probably come with a lot of other things. Also what do you think the right name is? (English is not my native language so I'm just guessing)

Not mine, also. I think "supplier" is just fine, waiting for some native English ;-)

<request> It will never be possible to have products with multiple 'reference' but the same '(bar)code'?

I was under the impression that a barcode is a unique identifier for products... Can you give me an example where this is not the case?

I sell seeds. In bags of different formats.
Now one of my suppliers set a barcode for every bag format but NOT for every different vegetable varieties and breeds, so it will be impossible to track down sales and inventories for each item.

<request> Searching products by 'Code' and/or 'Reference'

Good point. Right now it only matches exact code, and does not look at the reference field.

In my current version I can only search by name.

<issue>     The discount applied is not displayed but only calculated

Right. What fields do you expect to see in the main view in your opinion? Now it's "quantity  description           price +taxes         total"

I was thinking when apply a % of discount it would be nice to see (e.g.):

gross TOTAL        10,00
discount (10%)    -  1,00

net TOTAL             9,00

Moreover, we use prices with taxes already included...

  • a tool to manage products price
Can you elaborate a bit? You want a place where you just pick the product and change prices / taxes / discount for example?

It could be included in the product details or be a standalone tool.
Something like "purchase price", "discount", "mark-up", "taxes", "selling price" with the latter calculated or entered directly (sometimes we have fixed price lists, sometimes not)
Maybe it's too complicated

See you

Hello again guys, sorry I have not been around much. Work has been busy and also I have be looking into another POS that I have been thinking about using until we get coin box pos to a better place (code and usability), but that idea slowed down because the POS does not do bundling items ($1.59 or 2 for $2.00 deal).

I have coin box pos installed but I just have not had time to test, so I am glad to see this email. :D

This would be correct, but could possibly just have it revert to default "General" category any items left in the deleted category.

>>I wanted to add a "supplier" field. But it's part of a major revamp, so it will probably come with a lot of other things. Also what do you think the right name is? (English is not my native language so I'm just guessing)

Vendor is the most common that I have seen when referring to some one that your business buys good or products from.

Yes, this is true with some other product, one thing that could be created (most likely a major revamp) is the use of raw products. This allows you to have a single bar code and "modifiers". A good example would be in a restaurant when you order an egg sandwich choose modifiers -> meat, cheese, veggies. This also helps with tracking inventory on these types of items.

Yes, and the coin box I have installed does not calculate discount % correctly. haha. It cuts the discount in half (1/2, the preloaded customer with 100% discount only got 50%.

>>some tools to manage reservations

Yes, this feature is a more "specific" feature to a POS, so it may not be very high on the priority list. Just because most POS' just deal with the sale right away and not have to suspend it.

A way to do this would be to print the receipt and place it with the items and finish the transaction when the person shows up. Down fall to this is that if the person shows up and wants to change their purchase you would have to cancel the printed ticket and ring everything back up. :(

>>a tool to manage products price--->It could be included in the product details or be a standalone tool. Something like "purchase price", "discount", "mark-up", "taxes", "selling price" with the latter calculated or entered directly(sometimes we have fixed price lists, sometimes notMaybe it's too complicated

Yes, what we have right now is just something that "works", but the proposed set up will make this much easier. It is just having the time to plan it and code it. :)

>>multiple taxes % (we have three, for example)

Like Jad said just not implemented yet, again planning and time for coding. I love the taxes feature that is proposed. :D

I hope I did not just repeat everything Jad said. haha
