Hello members

I am sorry for not arranging for the lunar eclipse viewing. I watched
it from the terrace of my house. The picture of lunar eclipse in The
Hindu by Mr Ananthan was taken from his house.
And around 12:15 am during lunar eclipse time a photographer from
Polymer Channel called me and asked me about any viewing session
planned.

One thing is that lunar eclipse can be viewed without any optical aid.
Well in the telescope moon looks better like in any other time.
Generally during the total eclipse phase one can watch deep sky
objects with binoculars and telescopes.

FURTHER WE WERE DISAPPOINTED MANY TIMES BY THE ABSENSE OF MEMBERS
DURING THE STARGAZING SESSIONS IN PERKS, PARTICULARLY AFTER
TRANSPORTING HEAVY TELESCOPES FROM MY HOUSE TO PERKS. IT WAS NOT
EASY FOR ME WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM MEMBERS. THERE SHOULD BE
PARTICI-PATION FROM MEMBERS IN ALL ACTIVITIES. THIS IS NOT LIKE
SEEING A MOVIE IN A THEATRE.

On last Saturday night I arranged for a star gazing session for a bird
watcher group(I am a member of the group) in Anaikkatti and there I
could all the help needed. I am not blaming anybody; I am only
stating the reality.

Many times persons have come to my house and have observed the night
sky by informing me in advance. I can do that on any day assuming I
am free on that day and the sky is clear. So if anybody wants to have
a night sky viewing (either for a single person or a small group) or
for discussions about astronomy just call me.

One more thing is we did not expect the sky to be clear on the eclipse
day and the eclipse occurred after mid night.

i understand your problems sir. but i can even come to your house or
anywhere else you arrange for star gazing. due to non participation
from others people who wish genuinely to come should not be affected.
thats my view. but its up to you sir. i cant decide things. i would
feel happy to come some time for star gazing.
