Answer: A separate serial number is essential to enable separate activations for these products. For example, COSMOSFloWorks can be activated on one machine and COSMOSMotion can be activated on a different machine.

Answer: Existing customers, for whom we have a valid email address in our system, will automatically receive COSMOS serial numbers via email. You can also obtain your COSMOS serial number(s), directly by visiting: www.solidworks.com/COSMOS-SN.
Question: After I activate 2006-based COSMOS products can I still run my older versions of COSMOS?
Answer: Yes, provided you use only one license at a time (as per the End User License Agreement). This requires you have your dongle/license file on your machine.
Question: I have already activated COSMOSWorks Professional. Subsequently if I purchase an upgrade to COSMOSWorks Advanced Professional what should I do to start using it?
Answer: No new serial number is required, just re-activate your COSMOSWorks.
Question: I have COSMOSEMS does this require a new serial number to activate the product?
Answer: No. You can still work with COSMOSEMS with the license you have for COSMOSDesignStar 4.5.
Question: Does the activation process ever send data to SOLIDWORKS after I activate my product?
Answer: No. Activation is a secure and anonymous one-time process. After activation is complete, the license manager runs alongside the product for the sole purpose of verifying the integrity of the license file and the validity of the product license. The activation technology in the product never contacts SOLIDWORKS except with your express knowledge and consent.
Question: How does SOLIDWORKS keep this information secure?
Answer: We use the industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to transmit data to product activation servers that are both physically secure and have limited employee access.
Some SOLIDWORKS users are experiencing an error stating: The current computer identifier does not match... when activating SOLIDWORKS 2024 on a machine that has previous versions of the software installed.
This error is due to an update to the FLEXnet licensing service included with SOLIDWORKS 2024. The FLEXnet licensing service runs in the background (and is used with all versions of SOLIDWORKS) to handle the activation and deactivation of a license through the use of a Computer ID.
With the update, changes to the FLEXnet service are causing a new Computer ID to be generated for the computer performing the activation. This is causing a failure where the Computer ID listed on the SOLIDWORKS Licensing server side is different from the current ID on the computer, resulting in an error message during the activation process.

My client and I want to activate Solidworks Products on KVM virtual machine. For some weird reasons (Hyper-V and VMware are supposed to be well tested :) they (developers) of Solidworks 2015 PDM don't want their products to be activated (last 2014 version worked just fine) on Qemu-KVM.
The solution I eventually found was to use the hidevm.bat script included in the Solidsquad crack, for tricking Solidworks into thinking it isn't running in a VM. you can use the .bat file even if you have a legitimate license (as I would hope you do). the .bat is intended for users running Solidworks inside a VirtualBox VM, with Windows as the host OS as well, however if you're like me trying to run Linux as the host OS, you can still open up the .bat file, pick out the relevant commands, adjust them for linux, and run them. the modified relevant commands are:
The official way of activating Solidworks server on KVM is to apply for a "Activation Exempt licensing for SolidWorks". We do this through the reseller, but possibly could be done directly through Solidworks support.
Solidworks has an "Enhancement Request" open with the title: "Provide SNL Server support for VM KVM Qemu Libvirt." ER # 1-9482749288 I found it by logging in to Solidworks portal, finding the Enhancement Request link, and typing KVM.
I figured i'd share my method which worked to hide VM from Windows/Task MGR (It's also got less needless stuff and is easier to read). I was not trying to activate Solidworks but IMO this thread is more about hiding your running in a VM and maybe should be edited as such. Anyway...
SolidWorks 2023-24 is currently available for student and department installations. The version of SolidWorks available is tied to the academic calendar and new versions are typically made available to us during summer semester. After testing, we upgrade the labs in preparation for fall semester.
The Student Premium Edition is the full version that matches the version installed in our labs feature for feature, however its license allows it to be installed on student laptops or home computers and activates directly with SolidWorks over the internet. The activation is valid for 1 year, at which point you will need to install the new version for the new academic year to continue using SolidWorks. Most students will want to install this edition of SolidWorks.
My motherboard failed and the harddrive crashed. I replaced the motherboard in my computer with a same model motherboard and replaced the harddrive. I re-installed Autocad 2006 from original CD with original license.. AutoCAD installed but won't activate. Autodesk says they don't support any version prior to 2017 even though I have a "perpetual" license for my Autocad 2016. I have the same problem with my Inventor 2008.
You're probably out of luck. Autodesk stopped granting activations for versions 2010 and older, back on 31 AUG 2019. - despite your perpetual license. If you don't agree you'll have to seek legal action.
Even if you own the software, Autodesk will only give activation codes to the most recent versions of the software you own. Had a computer crash that had all my versions of Autodesk. They will not supply activation codes to turn on the old versions. BUT THEY CAN. THEY JUST REFUSE. They tell me to order subscription and give up the 45K in software that I lost because of the computer crash. Working with a Dassault Solidworks rep last week. Time to learn new software. Every engineer that I worked with over the past 10 years use Solidworks for engineered drawings. I wish I saved the 6K and did not upgrade any further that 2017. This problem is all over the internet. Autodesk refuses to turn software on, Even of you own it. This is a fact, I spent the last 10 days working with Autodesk. Here is a Good phone number to speak to someone 855-301-9562, Just go to the sales prompt, They will look into it, tell you TOO BAD, then tell you to start renting the software that you own. Note that if you tell people the facts about what Autodesk is doing on the forms, they will BLACKLIST you from the forms and they will not let you post on forms anymore (FACT). That is how much bad press they are getting since they started shutting people off a few years ago.
That's just it, you don't "own" it. You've never "owned" it, only a license to use it. Read the EULA for more details. In any case, as I stated above, challenge it in court, that is about your only recourse.
Draftsight 2018 sp3 cannot activate please help I have the problem about activate since Draftsight 2017 so I have to go back using Draftsight 2016 sp2 and hot fix and activation process is working fine every time I enter the information but the latest update build of windows 10 I cannot use Draftsight 2016 sp2 and hot fix anymore so I have to install latest Draftsight 2018 sp3 from -services/draftsight-cad-software/ after I open the program it ask me to migrate from old version and send me to register page and every time I enter information it blink and program is close it-self with no message that said that e-mail was send, I have try all 4 e-mail address that I have without success, I also try all the method mention here including add 3ds.com to trusted website, registry tweak, turn off firewall before activation it give me the same problem every time. my spec is:

I am having same problem in starting Draftsight. I started using it several years ago, but the trouble started when my laptop was stolen from my vehicle. In desperation I have searched for substitute software. Among others I located and loaded babacad. WARNING. All my dwg file have now been re-tagged as BabaCAD.Documents and the other programmes that I have that read`dwg file are now having trouble reading them.
Hello. I have a simillar issue. I install 2018 SP2 (or 1 it does not matter which) and can go through the activation process fine and start the software once. Once I have closed the software and I try to restart it the draftsight start-up windows pops-up and then the software seems to start but direclty shuts down. Once I restart it it will take me to the registration window once again. If i run the activation everything will work but the software will not start. If I clean the registry then it works once again en then bugs again. Any help welcome. BTW= Windows 10 Pro 64
I had the same problem on a dual boot system, the program was automatically installing on C drive instead of D so had to fix it in the registry.
