I don't quite know what exactly it is about ableton that I'd so miss. I suppose I've gotten used to the feel, and the flow of the program, as well as some of the inbuilt functionality, but tbh it's always been a big disappointment in the things that matter, and I've always tended just to use external VSTs anyway. Max4Live has always been super buggy in my experience as well, and I've rarely been able to get this to work. The entire Live program has always been quite unstable in my experience too, so I wonder how bitwig compares in this respect?
So here's the thing: Users paying a yearly subscription to bitwig was THE main motivating factor for bitwig to add cool shit to the DAW. And now it's not THE main motivation anymore, in fact its now a secondary motivation for them, the first being to work on their premium paid "specialized features".
I paid my subscription fee to ensure that I get ALL the latest and greatest features as they come out. I paid my subscription fee to ensure that bitwig was motivated to keep going....to keep adding great new content to the DAW. But now I'll just get what they decide I'll get, and put the rest...the really cool shit behind a bigger paywall...outside of my subscription....THIS is the problem with this business model, and it is unacceptable in my opinion.
2- In Bitwig studio's Controller Settings, I clicked on the + to add a controller, and instead of clicking on Generic, I clicked on Controller, and I came across a new configuration of Komplète Kontrol S49 MK2 which I had never seen until now (see attachment)
This transition was very gradual and not something I really was aware of until Stimming talked about it as being a major reason for him using Bitwig in a recent video he did about his studio setup. He also mentions it in this interview.
Hi all I'm new to Bitwig studio. Can you share your experience making acoustic music, orchestral music in bitwig studio? I'm using vst instruments so the piano roll is important to me too. Can you share about your experience I highly appreciate your effort.
