RE: UNIVERSITY OF DAR ES SALAAM CARRIER GUIDANCE 2011.

We have the honor to present our sponsorship proposal for the CARRIER
GUIDANCE event before you for review and sponsorship. The organizing
committee do hereby humbly request for your financial support in order
to enhance the success of this great 2011 University of Dar es Salaam
event which will be held on 12th of November 2011.
The event incorporate workshop and symposium on a day time at NKRUMAH
HALL for sharing information, skills, resources, best-practices IT
professional competencies and exposure among University students
together with a night party at JANGWANI SEA BREEZE RESORT for
welcoming first year student into the University of Dar es Salaam
CoICT, talent show and other more objectives as explained on the
attached proposal.
Enclosed please find the copy of the proposal and a proposed budget
for the event. General or party sponsorship in a specific category of
interest in a budget by your esteemed office is acceptable and
appreciated.
We hope our request will be considered favorably and we are looking
forward to hear from you perhaps for more clarification over your
participation in the event.

1. INTRODUCTION
College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT) is among
the most recently college established at the University of Dar es
Salaam, which was formerly known as faculty of informatics and visual
education (FIVE) which was thereafter transformed to be School of
informatics and communication technologies (SICT). Currently CoICT.
The college comprises of two departments which are Department of
Computer Science and Engineering and department of electronics and
Telecommunications Engineering.

2. WHY CARRIER GUIDANCE?
ICT is a newly coming technology in a neo liberal era 1980s-2011
particularly in Tanzania .It is true that ICT has proven worth in
issues related to Information dissemination, handling and programming
in multiple sectors like banks and industries.
Carrier guidance on ICT will create students awareness to ICT as a
result students will develop talents by being able to imitate speech
organization and presentation skills from different Inspirational
presenters, that is to say the expected knowledge gap between first
year students and continuing students will made it clear so that the
first year will be able to prepare strategies to fix that gap.
Thereafter students will be motivated to acquire knowledge in a
related field to ensure its applicability in access of information,
information handling, dissemination and programming aspect of ICT.

3. BACKGROUNDS ABOUT THE CARRIER GUIDANCE.
.
The CoICT students community, have a tradition of preparing an annual
event where the students from various schools meet to learn and enjoy
together usually at the beginning of the academic year. This year the
even known as CARRIER GUIDANCE will be in a new fascinating image
whereby, the event will start at Nkrumah Hall with the Workshop and
Symposium together with the inspiration exhibition from the invited
prominent students and inspiration speakers. At night, the
participants will go for the night party at JANGWANI SEA BLEEZE
RESORT.

4. THEME OF THE CARRIER GUIDANCE 2011
The main theme of CARRIER GUIDANCE event is to help students to become
competent and confident users who can use the basic knowledge and
skills acquired to assist them in their daily lives. It is also
supposed to prepare students for the world of tomorrow. It aims to
help learners to have an open and flexible mind. This will help them
to adjust to the inevitable future changes.

6. OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT

 To facilitate learning through workshop, symposium together with
inspiration speech from prominent students and inspiration speaker
 To provide competitive professional ICT services and to promote ICT
for social-economic development of Tanzania and Africa
 Develop and use ICTs to foster institutional collaboration among and
between administrative and academic communities
 Undertake activities (including consultancy services, policy
research & development, advocacy, training, etc.) that would cultivate
the requisite environment for wider, sustainable collaboration and
networking , beginning with our immediate and surrounding communities
 To welcome first year students to the university of Dar es Salaam
College of information and communication technologies (CoICT).
 To provide a chance for togetherness among students at CoICT
community with other Schools, Universities and Colleges.
 Cultivate and share effective and useful partnerships among and
between member institutions, as well as with the private sector and
other relevant institutions and agencies.
 To raise awareness and spreading youth friendly message on HIV/AIDS,
so that HIV counseling and testing become more accessible and
acceptable among young professionals.
 To promote exposure among the IT Students with external world
 To discuss on the improvement of professionalism, integrity and
excellence among IT professionals.

7. VENUE, TIME AND DATE
The event will take place on 12th of November 2011 at NKRUMAH HALL in
a day time and JANGWANI SEA BLEEZE RESORT at night.

8. EVENT COVERAGE
The event is looking forward to attract more than 1500 University
students together with other invited guests from various Institutions
and University community as the whole.
