I have been having issues installing AutoCAD 2021 on my Windows 10 64-bit computer. I have tried both installers on the education downloads page (Install and Download) and have had no luck with either, both producing an error code. I think in the initial message I sent the error it was giving me was error code 240 however I tried manually installing the Autodesk Licencing service and now the error code is 250. I have of course searched for the error code online and on the Autodesk forums but error code 240 and 250 are not documented anywhere for some reason.
I did manage to successfully install the software with the same install file (The download one) on a Hyper-V Virtual Machine. I also managed to successfully launch the software and log in with my Autodesk ID on the 2nd Feb, an issue that you mention in your reply. This lead me to believe that there was possibly an old version of some Autodesk software on my host OS causing it to be unable to install. I found a post on the Autodesk forums that helped me purge all Autodesk files from my computer to perform a clean install but that didn't work. Stability on the VM was not great because I could not utilise my computer power as well as I could in the host OS so I could not use this as an option.
I attempted to install again today on my host OS as your message said there were known issues that have been fixed, however I can confirm that the system error you refer to was not the source of my problem. I will include the installation log of my attempt to install it today and hopefully this will give a better indication to what may be the problem. Here also are my system specifications to ensure that I have as many bases covered as possible:
from somebody else at Autodesk which turns out is the page you get when you click the how do I fix this? hyperlink under the error code. I of course already did this but was willing to try all the steps again including the ones on other pages referenced on that page. I got the same error 240 again as expected, however I also noticed this time some strange behaviour from the installer (on this occasion I was using the installer for AutoCAD named "Download" on the get products page). The installer starts at 13 of 15 remaining and then counts down to 12 and then gets to 11 when it shows it is installing Autodesk Licencing. The progress bar for Autodesk Licencing does not reach the end and then it counts back up to 12 of 15 and starts installing a materials library. It then keeps counting up until it reaches 14 and then shows the Installation incomplete page and error code 240.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community, and thank you for posting your question here in the Installation and Licensing forum! I am sorry to hear you are having this issue with Installing your software. It sounds like you may have an open case with Technical Support, could you share the case number with me so that I can look into this a bit more for you?
It looks like you have tried quite a few different things already, have you attempted the following:
As I have already mentioned in my above post I have already tried the troubleshooting tips on -result/caas/simplecontent/content/autodesk-software-installati... which includes the troubleshooting tips you have listed. The case number is 17454024.
The problem is I'm the IT admin for our organisation and look after 100+ systems with about 75% of those using an AutoCAD application and this is the first time in years that the boxed solution provided by Autodesk doesn't work.
I always setup local and deployment installations on test machines when the new versions become available and in this instance both fail with the same error 4000 which states that it requires investigation by the Autodesk Technical Team.
Honestly .. if you are continuously getting the same error, I'd be looking at the IT side of it. Just my opinion. I help with 1000's of installs a year and see a lot of different things. It's not generally the software .. it's something blocking / limiting it.
So its a new day and I have a fresh MS SP7 with Windows 11 on it and nothing else, I add the system to our domain and then login with an Admin account, download the AutoCAD 2023 installation files run them so that they extract to the default location and then the installation starts.
For what it's worth, I was having issues installing 2023 as well (Error 5).
I have had much better luck installing directly from the Autodesk Desktop App.
Interested to see if you see the same results. Hope this provides some insight... somehow.
So it seems that the Admin accounts I have access to and had been using have had this option missing from them since they were setup several years ago and have been working fine with everything thing else I needed to install and configure up until now.
I find it curious that an "expert" doesn't see that the problem is with Autodesk's new installer. Over a few months now, I have tried everything. Before you go down a road of patronizing condescension, I am an admin on the machine, have checked security roles, cleared temp folder, rebooted, tried your two versions of the installer, etc. Every single time, same thing. Starts, reverts and throws error 4000.
I don't care what you think you know. If Autodesk has made functional changes to their installer and it is "getting blocked" then it IS the installer and not the machine/OS. Software companies like to play this game that it must be your machine. It isn't. To those that say you should uninstall your anti-virus or other security measures to install a piece of software, this should be a red flag. If any company that you didn't know asked you to do this, you would throw the software in the trash.
I need a fix to this. I feel that the excuse train is going to keep rolling and just waiting for next year's release or hoping that someone fixes the issue in the installer isn't going to work. I need a bona fide fix and real support. No one seems to wan to provide that, just excuses and "it should work".
Hello, I'm trying to install Autodesk Inventor 2021 on Windows 10. I'm using the browser installer method. I can run "Setup.exe" in the Autodesk folder on my C: drive but the installer fails. It makes it about half way through installing Inventor then fails. It says "Install error 120: Call not implemented." I'm not sure what log files I should provide. Looking in my temp directory I found "Autodesk Inventor 2021 Setup.log" so I'm including that. I'll also attach a picture of the installer failure.
I believe the third link should be for the third part of the download? I have downloaded and run each of those executable. Running "setup.exe" again results in the same installer failure: "error 120: Call not implemented."
I am trying to install AutoCAD 2014 or AutoCAD 2013 for that matter. As soon as the installer is initializing I get and error message come up that the autocad installer terminated due to an unexpected error. I have submitted many reports to Autodesk however, I have still not had any reponse.
Hello. Error reports are not submissions for assistance, they are automated submissions that are aggregated for development purposes. In some situations, if the system can identify a fix for a specific issue it will send an automated response, but this type of error submitted from a crash is not a direct submission for assistance.
Your issue specifically, is a crash during the early phase of the installer. It sounds as though you probably have a good download at this stage. So it makes me wonder what is on the system that could be in conflict.
One thing I many have not mentioned is that I had a trial version of AutoCAD 2013 installed. I had uninstalled this so that I could install AutoCAD 2014. However after experiencing the problem in trying ot install AutpCAD 2014, I have the same problem when trying to install AutoCAD 2013 as well.
Looking into the crash report it seem that the calls to direct 3D (D3D11) from the hardware check is crashing and bringing the setup.exe to a halt. My guess is that this would be related to video card or video drivers. Have you confirmed you are running the latest available video driver from the card manufacturer?
Perhaps there is another video related driver on the system causing an issue. Can you check your programs and features control panel and see if there is a program listed called "displaylink core software"? It has been known to cause a conflict with autodesk installers and products. If you find it try removing it or updating it to the latest version from the displaylink website.
Thanks I tired re-installing the display driver again as for some reason the last time I did it it had not worked. I have re-installed the latest display driver and have managed to install AutoCAD 2014 finally.
I am now installing AutoCAD 2014 for maya 2014. I installed this version before, but unfortunately my computer was broken down. I would like to reinstall this version in my computer again for my student works use. It still keep on installed error. How I would do with the under installation log?
I am now urgent and looking up for the installation. Please keep a hand.
Unfortunately, it's not writing a log file in "%temp%." Until yesterday, it used to, but now not so much. We tried both the INSTALL NOW from the manage.autodesk.com Website and the Autodesk Desktop Installer app.
Our IT department tried their best, but it stumped them, too. So we did a complete uninstall and tried to reinstall. During the installation, when the percentage wheel was going, it would get up to anywhere from 87% to 95% complete, then stop, unwind, and declare the installation a failure, with error code 1603.
I guess the next step is to wipe her computer's hard drive clean and start over. It will be painful, but she has not been able to use AutoCAD for a week now, and and using AutoCAD 95% of her job, and is part of the critical path to production in the Company.
Normally error code 1603 should be an error code from windows installer. If you can't find log files in the %temp% it is possible, that the log file creation of this msi package is not enabled as default.
