Hi everyone!

I hope you have had a great summer and are looking forward to the fall ultimate season!  We are sending this with information about the upcoming season!

High School League Registration

The registration for the high school league this season is up!  You can find additional details on the league and REGISTER from the AYU League Page >>>

The league will begin on Thursday, September 11. The league will run for 7 weeks. Default game days will be Thursdays, but games may be rescheduled to different days if agreed upon between teams. More info on logistics for playing games will follow after registration closes.

The Registration Deadline is Wednesday, September 3.  I will follow up with some reminders as we get closer to the deadline.  We will get the schedule made and out to you all ASAP after the deadline.

Coach Pre-Season Meeting
There will be a pre-season meeting for all coaches of teams in the AU Fall League on Thursday, September 4 from 7-8 PM.  This will be a Zoom meeting.

We require 1 coach per team to attend this pre-season meeting.  This includes every team - if your school has multiple teams, please make an effort to send a representative from each team.

Fall Season Divisions
The league for the fall season is a MIXED league.  Teams are expected to have enough players to field a ratio of 4 boy-matching players and 3 girl-matching players for all league games.  Registration for Mixed league here.

Like last year, we also will have a Mixed Development league.  This is a league specifically for new or inexperienced teams that do not have enough girl-matching players to play Mixed.  This division is for developing teams, and we want to make it clear that girl-matching players are welcome and encouraged to play.  Whenever possible, please make an effort to play mixed in this division, even if it is only a 5:2 or 6:1 ratio.  Please note, the Mixed Development league is NOT for experienced open teams.  If you have a team that is not a first or second year team and is not a B/C team, please send a message to Mike and I before signing up for this league.  Registration for Mixed Development league here.

Mixed Division Rules
As noted above, teams playing in the mixed division are required to maintain a 4:3 gender ratio.

We will continue to use the pulling rule we began using last fall.  This is the same pulling rule used in the Club Mixed Division.  Teams will alternate female-matching and male-matching pullers.  This will follow the pattern ABBAABBAA, etc.  On the first point, the team pulling will choose who is pulling.  This will set the pattern, and the following 2 points will have a puller of the opposite from the gender-match of the puller for the first point.  This pattern then continues, with the gender-match of the puller changing every 2 points.  The gender-match of the pulling team follows this pattern regardless of which team scores.

Inclusion and Participation

AU welcomes all players to participate in the league, in both the Mixed and Mixed Development leagues. The league will follow USA Ultimate’s Gender Inclusion Policy, and players are invited to match against the gender that most closely aligns with their identity.  Teams participating in the league agree to respect and uphold this policy, including all coaches, players, parents, fans, and other individuals associated with the team.

State Championships

The Fall Mixed State Championships are now scheduled! Please mark this on your calendar!

Date: November 1-2

Location: Stenger Sports Complex in Arvada

Divisions: Mixed D1, Mixed D2, Mixed Development Division

More info on the State Championships can be found on the State Championships AU Page >>>

This page will get updated as we get closer and more details come in.

More information will also be coming on midseason tournaments!

Eligibility Exceptions

As noted on the State Championships page - if you have players on your roster that are NOT full time students at the school being represented you must seek an exception. If you have players from other schools approach you, please reach out to us ASAP to make sure your situation is approved. Please see the Eligibility Requirements Doc for more information.

Competition Committee

We are looking for members to join the AU Competition Committee for high school competition.  This is an opportunity for coaches and community members to have a say in the season, rules, eligibility exceptions, etc.

The commitment level for members of the competition committee is generally 2 meetings per year, and responsiveness to email for eligibility exceptions/questions that come up.  We specifically are looking for North and West district coordinators, who we ask to coordinate district qualifying events (only if needed for the season).

If you have interest in joining the Competition Committee as a district coordinator, please reach out to Mike and I!

Team Finder

In preparation for the season, please also find your team on the Team Finder and confirm that your team’s contact info is correct. If you need any updates or if your team is new and needs added, send an email to mi...@altitudeyouthultimate.org to submit edits!

If you have any questions or concerns at all about the Fall Season, please reach out to Mike and I!

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you on the fields,

Ben Fletcher

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great holiday weekend!

A reminder that the deadline to register for this fall's high school league is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3.  We will be sending out the schedule for league as soon as possible after the deadline.

There are 2 divisions that teams can register for:
Mixed: all games will be with a 4:3 gender ratio of boy-matching players to girl-matching players
Mixed Development: this league has no gender requirements, only a recommendation to match ratios between teams as much as possible.  This league is for new teams (1-2 years) or "B" or "C" teams

Please reach out to Mike and I if you have any questions about league or registration.
