Syntactic Pattern Density Scores

Hi! I have a question about the scores for syntactic pattern density. Are they actually density scores, e.g. do they take in to account word count, or are they just counts? My results from coh-metrix seem quite different to my own counts so I'm just trying to understand how they are calculated.
