Need Oracle Architect - Philadelphia, Pa 

Location: Fort Washington, Pa (near Philadelphia)

Length: 12+ months

MUST FACE TO FACE

 

 

Responsibilities

·         Experience with data management and data processing flowcharting techniques

·         Research and provide architectural solutions for contemporary problems around Database design.

·         Must be prepared to design a multi data center, multi platform, RDBMS from the ground up.

·         Prepare and maintain up to date documentation detailing configuration of deployed solutions.

·         Research and provide architectural solutions for contemporary problems around DB features, security, connectivity.

·         Mentor junior DBAs as they implement your designs.

·         Provide guidance on escalated operational issues involving RDBMS infrastructure.

·         Liaison with RDBMS software vendors throughout for purchasing, operation and support processes

 

Qualifications

·         BS Degree OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work experience.

·         Minimum 10 years experience supporting RDBMS in an enterprise environment.

·         Experience in designing complex, highly available RDBMS systems.

·         Expertise with large scale MS SQL, Oracle systems.

·         Expertise with communications protocols such as SQLNET, JDBC, ODBC.

·         Expertise with automated failover and cluster based systems

·         Experience with Disaster Recovery planning and execution

·         Expertise with stored procedures, views, subqueries, data modeling.

·         Solid knowledge about TCP/IP, IP routing, VPN, Firewall, Security, data center design.

·         Solid understanding of Storage and Operating Systems.

·         Experience running large database systems (> 20TB)  on SAN and NAS systems.

 

Desired Traits

·         Familiarity with MySQL or Postgres or NoSQL systems

·         Familiarity with NetApp storage

·         Self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.

·         Flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities. The ability to socialize ideas, make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward.

·         Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels in the organization; develop procedural documentation; develop and conduct effective presentations; and effectively demonstrate products and solutions.

·         Ability to connect new technology initiatives to cost savings and ROI calculations.

·         Familiar with technical project management.
