Hey everyone,

Ken Forbus just shared this with me, and it might be of interest to folks here.

The 38th International Workshop on Qualitative Reasoning will be held in conjunction with IJCAI-2025 this August in Montreal.

The Qualitative Reasoning (QR) community develops qualitative representations and reasoning algorithms to understand the world from incomplete, imprecise, or uncertain data. Topics include:

  • Qualitative modeling in physical, biological, and social systems
  • QR in AI: common sense reasoning, diagnosis, design, and learning
  • Integration with ML: learning qualitative representations, improving ML with QR
  • Cognitive & human reasoning: conceptual learning, decision-making, spatial reasoning, ...
  • Applications: robotics, education, science, engineering and more ...

We invite the following types of manuscripts:

  • Technical papers (full/short) – novel research, including late-breaking ideas
  • Summary papers – highlight existing work relevant to QR
  • Application/demo papers – real-world applications, software, and implementations

Format: Full (7 pages), Short (3 pages), +1 page for references – IJCAI format, but with authors identified (i.e. not double-blind): Peer-reviewed (at least 2 reviewers per paper) Proceedings: Working papers collection

Find further details in Call For Papers, available here: QR-Workshop at IJCAI 2025

Best wishes,

Chris
