100-year-old grandmother Eileen Wilkinson has an awful lot of wisdom to share. And, with the help of her grandson, Eileen has a makeshift office set up on the streets of New York so she can share that wisdom with total strangers. Anybody can come and sit down at the laptop and talk with Eileen even though she lives clear across the country.
Hundreds of people have stopped by her booth to hear the advice this wise woman has to share or just to chat. It's so incredible to see Eileen reaching all sorts of people through the Internet and social media. I know her wisdom is taken to heart and it's obvious that the public loves her. And what a fun idea! What would you ask this sweet grandma if you had the chance?
Jeanne Robertson has been stealing the stage for years as a witty Christian humorist who tells stories based on her life experiences. Always one to look for the humor in every situation, Jeanne has a knack for finding situations to poke fun at that we are all able to relate! Most charming about her style is the way she is able to embelish a story to weave the perfect imagery while maintaining family-friendly content. Since posting a Youtube a few years back, Jeanne has found a new generational audience to connect with and is loving every minute of it. Here are 10 things you might not know about Jeanne!
When Jeanne won the Miss Graham NC contest, she was unprepared for the talent portion of the Miss North Carolina Pageant. As a 6'2" teenager, Jeanne had quickly learned to play to her strengths and her height made that strength, basketball.
Of course, the pageant also required two unknown questions from the judges. Jeanne's answer to one of those questions quickly won her credit with the judges and the audience. She played to her strength once again - humor.
Jeanne taught Physical Education for 9 years. Her love of basketball and gymnastics as well has having been in the unique position of being the tallest kid in the class during middle school, served her well in working with kids in an athletic arena. But even with her athletism, she is upfront in saying that she is not "outdoorsy". She's done countless skits on her idea of camping, including the hilarious image she paints of a 6'2" woman and 6'6" man trying to squeeze into an itsy-bitsy tent ("Don't Get Frisky In A Tent").
Even more amusing was the time she and L.B. were encouraged to bungee jump. You can imagine her concern when the average American is 5'4"! Of course, with Jeanne there is laughter around every corner and always making fun of the things that we each worry about, such as aging , wrinkles and hearing loss. Pair that with bungee jumping and we have a true winner!
Knowing that Jeanne had often joked about her accent, which is a lovely Southern drawl, interviewer Taylor decided to have her pronounce some commonly joke about words and compare them to his own Midwestern accent. Enjoy!

From pickups, drop offs, deliveries to orders, enterprises use mapping platforms in various forms and capacity. Organisations make it a point to incorporate newer platform and technologies to be a part of their digital transformation initiatives.
Banking and Fintech companies are relatively close to the consumers in every aspect of their lives. Online purchases of products, transactions, bank statements, knowing where and how much was spent helps you and I to keep a track of our spent.
Back in August, I was explaining to my 82year old granny about the online shopping and how things can be delivered at your home; no need to go out in traffic, spend on commute - time and money and so on. She knows to use laptop a bit and even uses kindle to read :-) She takes care of her laptop like her child and is extremely savvy using facebook, watching online movies, youtube and skype too !
She wasn't sure of online shopping until her cousin mentioned to her like a magic carpet and she was hell bound after me to teach her how to do it. It was a fun session clearing her doubts and worries linking her card to a portal and stuff. Still unsure, she made purchases of $150.45 at nearby mall as usual over the weekend, our monthly ritual of taking her out on a date. She bought a makeup kit (:-)), two nail paint bottles, a pearl set and a pair of winter socks using her CC from different shops.
12/1 - She went online and called me to let me know she did online shopping on her own successfully. And invited us to collect our gifts for thanksgiving and Christmas. We loved her enthusiasm and selection of unique gifts for each of us. She even flashed her red socks that had olaf's white face from Frozen ! That's when I asked her - how many pairs of socks you have now? You bought one at the mall, remember? And she got furious and said, this is the first time she bought such fancy socks. I brought maybe her age :-) emotions on my face and she got more furious.
She flashed her online CC statement on her laptop and it was time for she and I to confirm!!! And boom, we found her past socks purchases. But, she could not recognise the shop she bought from. Gosh, she was not gonna give up so easily. Thats when I thought, it could have been better, if some mapping platform could provide a digital link of the location where the purchases were made along a picture of the store (?) maybe.
Another thing that struck me, what if somebody making an online transaction in California but I am in NY that time? Having this location component built into solution will trigger banks or CC companies to call me at once to check whether I did that transaction before it goes through. Usually we receive messages on our phones post the transaction. And then, I would have to call bank's toll free number/ call center to explain them after the realisation of me not doing that transaction. Unnecessary time invested, emotional turbulence, costing banks $10 -$15 per call.... instead why not take precautionary smart and technology platform places API integrations via google maps platform?
Financial security being the topmost priority taught me so much from my Granny's experience. Google maps platforms APIs bring in these amazing features that go beyond bank, branches and ATM locators.
