This is a slightly late notice, but I thought the below event might be of interest to some on this list- ~48 hours of coders working together to help regional charities with IT projects ranging from Wordpress sites to web applications and data management. 

Last year's version of give camp was well organized and attracted an enthusiastic bunch of people for a whole range of good causes; definitely recommended, and I'm sure they'd welcome additional signups even with just 2 days to go.

For those who will be at the "other" hackathon this weekend (MHacks)... Good luck!

Proposal: Helping fight childhood cancer The Michigan Childhood Cancer Foundation is a local non-profit that helps children suffering from childhood cancer through support, education, and advocacy. Last year, the submitted a proposal to Ann Arbor Give Camp 2012 for a new web site, but we did not have sufficient volunteers to help out. They tried to create their own but, as they put it, "it was basically a disaster." They are back with another proposal, crossed fingers, and crossed toes. Proposal: Helping children read Though many GiveCamp proposals are for a professional web presence, they aren't always. The Children's Literacy Network is struggling with their current donor tracking database. With our help, they can improve tracking and outreach to existing and potential donors, ultimately allowing them to grow as an organization and assist even more people in need.
