We've reached the age where, when we get a call from a contemporary's relative, we anticipate sad news. Gael Newman called me two weeks ago now to say that Jack had died that morning. I remember you two sharing that apartment in the village.
He'd been having serious memory issues for a good number of years and lived first in Florida, then in Las Vegas, in assisted living facilities that have a focus on memory. Jack and I had stayed close, though living far apart.
