Hello. My fiancé and I are getting married on Sunday, July 13 at Riverside in Geneva, IL. We are wondering if there are photography students at COD who might be available to shoot our wedding for a few hours? We are from Winfield and are strong supporters of education, mentoring, and "buying local" whenever possible.
Please let me know if you have students who may need to fulfill course requirements or would like the experience of capturing a wedding.
Thank you.

is that to go with the local florists who have extra flowers lying around. that they would like to use to showcase their creative flower-arranging skills? and the local baker who needs practice making creative cakes so they can get exposure? oh, and are they having a local band that needs exposure as well? and...

I know, Jeff, you are just passing this along. Couldn't resist.

And let's not forget about the liability for the photographer should this couple be less than pleased with
the images

I wouldn't read into this that she doesn't want to pay...

Hey y'all, grossing $200k a year running a wedding photography business -  - this is where I started...$300 weddings.

The question is - can YOU raise her value of the wedding photography experience that she's setup in her own thought?

I don't see anything that says she's looking for a budget product.  Who knows...

Go get um.

Yes. She did write that she wanted to "buy local".

Although most wedding photogs are local...

Guess that interested parties have already cleared that up by contacting her.

I am certainly not at the point Ben is yet, but I do have 23 weddings booked this season.  I started by second shooting and shooting anybody's wedding who would let me, even for free, to get some experience and some portfolio shots.  Students who are interested in shooting weddings may find it very difficult to get booked with nothing to show for it.  I don't advocate working for free.  I don't like when experienced professionals work on the cheap and lower the bar for all of us. But you have to start somewhere.  And  when you have never shot a wedding, nobody is going to pay you $2000.

And at least this person isn't saying she won't pay anything.
