Hi people,

I'm trying to write about what is the coding dojo in the wiki
(http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?WhatIsCodingDojo) and I'm
having difficulties to define it. So far I saw the most of existing
dojos describing the meetings, but not exatcly the concept of the
dojo.

Do you have any thoughts about it?

Cheers,
Ivan

(first of all, sorry my bad english)

I thought the coding dojo was a way to promote
Test Driven Development, not just a meeting to solve any kind of challange with  some programmers...
am i wrong?
Could i create a coding dojo meeting to solve a problem with UML+automatic code generation??

Don't have time to read and/or contribute today. In the past, I put the
following page together:
http://www.sourcextreme.org/index.php/Coding_Dojo

Please feel free to grab/steal/post/modify/etc. anything I've already grabbed
or written.

Hi Jason,

I already grabbed some ideas from that page (mostly Kata and Randori
concepts) :-)

Now I'm looking for something about the dojo itself (motivation, goals
etc) and I'm afraid it's something nobody wrote yet.

Thanks anyway,

Ivan

No worries.

I think that TDD sessions are the most common example of coding dojos. I,
perhaps wrongly, take coding dojos to be places where:

"We are uncovering better ways of developing
software by doing it and helping others do it. ..." The Agile Manifesto

Interesting question.

I think that there's a notion of practice involved, but can't seem to put
adequate words together at the moment. Need to get back to work today
anyways.

We the members of the Coders' Dojo in Paris have written stuff about
this. Some is assuredly in French, but not all of it. Laurent, could
you please re-post the URL of the blog on which we wrote early in the
dojo adventures?

I've talked about Coding Dojo Global website to the Parisian gang at our
session last Monday -- people were enthusiast and some proposed to
translate articles we initially wrote in French.

I've been very silent so far because I'm a bit swamped with other stuff.
I hope to get more energy for the codingdojo.org wiki in few weeks.
Before then, I've added some stuff on the WhatIsCodingDojo page. Feel
free to edit or ask for clarifications.

Yours,
-- Emmanuel.

Dojers,

I asked yesterday --

Laurent has troubles sending mails to this group, but he managed to mail
me personnally the URL I was requesting.

--> http://bossavit.com/dojo/

Feel free to browse and transfer what you find interesting on the wiki.

Hi everyone,

Searching at the Laurent's blog I found some "coding dojo
principles". Maybe it's a good starting point to help us figure out
what the coding dojo is really about:

http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?CodingDojoPrinciples

I hope to see some feedback (mine included) about it soon.

Cheers,
Ivan Sanchez
