Hey everyone,

You may have heard the good news that haskell.org was accepted to Google Summer of Code for 2019.  We have a strong history of students contributing to CodeWorld as part of Google Summer of Code, and if you are a college student looking for a summer project supported by a stipend, please consider applying with your ideas to make the project better.  If you know any college students, consider inviting them to apply, as well.

There are some ideas at https://summer.haskell.org/ideas.html#codeworld, but please also consider applying your own experience and creativity to propose new projects and ideas that are exciting to you.  One of the most important factors in success of a Summer of Code project is your personal interest in the work, so picking something you're excited about and infecting others with your enthusiasm is often a better approach than just picking what you think others want.

You can officially submit an application from March 25 until April 9, but you are strongly encouraged to get to know people and projects well before then.  Strong proposals usually already include mentors who have been involved enough in early discussions to advocate for the project and convince the community to invest in it.

Please pass this around and share the good news, and make K-12 computer science just a little more functional and awesome.

Thanks,
Chris
