Noob question, getting "COMPILE ERROR: as is not a statement keyword."

So I just started learning programming using pigeon, very very very noob! But at the first step I cant even get the assignment command to work!! I wrote this:

"as x "crap"
(print "x")"

But I get this "COMPILE ERROR: as is not a statement keyword." error!!

I actually had abandoned the Pigeon implementation because I didn't think there was much value. Last time I touched it, I was making a few changes to the language but never finished, so it's in a broken state. Sorry about the confusion! I might fix it someday, but for now I just recommend following along with the video and then going to Javascript for the next step as quickly as possible. Good luck!
