Hi everyone,

Young Rewired State is coming to San Francisco! Please read more about our YRS San Fran event here.

We are on the hunt for another judge to join our panel to choose the winners from the Show and Tell from the youth hackathon this weekend (Nov 9-10)  and the judging will take place on November 10th at Github.

The vacant judge's slot is the "industry expert" judge on the panel. You must have advanced knowledge of computer programming and code to qualify.

Please email ka...@rewiredstate.org ASAP to let me know if you are interested in judging. In your email, please include:
1. Your full name
2. Your company/organization
3. Computer programming qualifications(programming languages, degrees, experience, etc.)
4. A personal statement on why you think you would make a great judge

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Kaitlin,

I might be interested in being a judge.  If you're interested, please let me know a little more of what it would entail.  I've given some information below, according to your request.
  1. Mark Friedman
  2. Google
  3. I have 30+ years experience as a software engineer.  I've worked for Oracle, Microsoft, NASA Ames Research Center, M.I.T. and most currently Google, as well as a few startups.  I have programmed in C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Scheme, Common Lisp, C#, VB and a variety of older and lesser known programming languages.
  4. I'm very interested in kids and under-represented populations learning programming. I was the leader of the App Inventor project at Google - a web-based environment whose purpose is to make mobile app development as simple as possible in order to motivate kids and other non-programmers to become creators of technology rather than merely consumers.  We eventually open-sourced the project and are funding its further development at M.I.T.  You can get more information about App Inventor at appinventor.mit.edu.  I'm also on the board of advisors of the Democratize Computing Lab.
Thanks in advance.

-Mark
