December 15 11am-1pm. We are ready for our final CoderDojo Indy of 2012. This has been a really fun year so far, and I'm excited to see how things have shaped up so far.
Numbers the last few months have been down a bit, but from what I can tell from individuals, that's mostly related to unavoidable conflicts. To that end, and from a parent suggestion, I have added our tutorials to a shared folder (that was that email I just sent out).
Last month we introduced kinect2scratch project as a group. I thought it was a good review for events and variables but personally would like to see more play time and creativity with the device. There are a number of demo projects that could be remixed on the project site. The project maintainer contacted us on twitter as well and noted he worked through a soccer penalty kick game with a coderdojo in Ireland last month. We could likewise turn that into a colts kick a field goal game too.
For web track, I was thinking a way to introduce CSS backgrounds and positioning would be to have a decorate the Christmas tree activity (we've been trending young lately) where you have a tree background div and then move around the ornament divs in web inspector till you're happy with the way it looks. It would be a quick win and also has some creativity to it to help mix it up from codeacademy.
Lastly, we have a bunch of windows computers where we could start load up the android simulator for mobile development. I know that was thrown out as an interest by one of the kids earlier this year. Maybe not for this time but does anyone know of activities or tutorials on that front?
Any other ideas or thoughts?
