<DojoCon 2015 proposal from CoderDojo Dun Laoghaire.pdf>
Discussion points for proposal to host DojoCon 2016
Who’s going to support us?
IADT / DLRCoCo / DL BID ?
Who will follow up with whom? (Application for grant in with DLRCoCo, should hear in Feb)
Proposed locations?
Theatre / Royal Marine / Lexicon / Town Hall?
What dates?
October (or September or November – don’t clash with other events)
What availability for those dates?
Who’s going to follow up with venues?
Theme – IoT – think up “cool” phrase!
Include VR / Drones / Hardware / Wearable
Mary blogged about this https://coderdojo.com/news/2015/10/19/whats-it-all-about-this-tech-coding-stuff-aaaggghhh-a-simple-guide-for-non-techies/
There is a move towards Entrepreneurship for young people, could we incorporate this?
What topics?
Last submission suggested Technology in Schools, Dojos sharing Resources, Robotics, Animation, Careers in STEM, Girls & Technology, Coolest Projects, Game based learning, Running a Dojo, Child Protection, & Technology & Disability
Streams – had ““Elevate” (growth), “Engage” (community) and “Design” Streams; with the public dojos and information session being called “Showcase”” in previous submission.
Think good idea to have kids included as per submission; can we improve on this - maybe also have a panel discussion with kids? Bear in mind the official line from CoderDojo has been that Coolest Projects is for kids; DojoCon for adults – but I think kids should have a part to play, it’s what the whole thing is about!

Timetable – what about a longer panel session – or more panel sessions?
Note re tea/coffee – if in Pavilion they charge per head for tea & coffee.
Speakers –let’s think who we might be able to get. Don’t approach anyone just yet as if one person knows a senior person in a company, someone else might be friendly with the CEO!
Try for 50/50 balance male/female?
Who would delegates get on a plane to see?

Miscellaneous thoughts –
To encourage people involved in other dojos to come and bring a child, what about seeing if any Dun Laoghaire people might consider having them to stay in their homes? Would need a bit of discussion about this, would probably have to have people vetted etc?
To encourage people to come from other locations, especially outside Ireland, if anyone is travelling over the next year, would they call to their local dojo and encourage them to come to DojoCon in Dun Laoghaire?
That's great Seelan - do you think you might be able to visit our session in IADT tomorrow? I'd love to meet you!On 10 November 2015 at 22:09, gnanaseelan.m <gnanas...@gmail.com> wrote:Hi Sandra,I would like to be on the team.RegardsSeelan
