Hi,

just a quick note to keep you informed about upcoming sessions.

We plan to run our next 6 week block of sessions starting on Saturday 20th April and running up to the end of May. On Sat 13th April there is a CoderDojo conference in Slane and a lot of our mentors will be attending that, so we decided to push back the start date a week.

We''ll once again be issuing a single ticket, valid for the 6 week session.

We'll issue around the same number of tickets, ~100 or so, provided that  we have sufficient mentors to cater for that number of kids. If we don't have sufficient mentors, we will have to scale back our ticket issue.

We are at the moment working on some lesson plans for this block, and we'll provide some more details later. It's likely we'll have (to be confirmed later)

- a web technology strand
- beginners and intermediate Scratch
- (new) Introduction to programming using Python
- introduction to Arduino and Raspberry Pi
- (new) Multi-disciplinary hardware/software projects using Raspberry Pi and Arduino, linking web technology, RPis and Arduinos

We are considering offering a "package" where we will buy on behalf of anyone interested a little starter kit to work with Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi : our mentors will choose the components and Arduino boards, buy these in bulk, and make up kits which you can buy from us: this would allow you to work on your hardware projects outside of dojo time: is that something which anyone would be interested in? If so we can work out the kit contents and costs nearer to the time. By buying in bulk we should be able to keep costs down on sensors, LEDs, and other components.

If you have any feedback on anything above, or other suggestions, please email us: we'd love your feedback. Ask your kids: I'm sure they have an opinion too ;-)

We'd also welcome anyone interested in being a technical mentor: get in touch if you'd like to help make CoderDojo Bray even better.

Kind Regards
CoderDojo Bray Team
