Dear parents and friends of CoderDojo Bray

a parent of a child who formerly attended the dojo has requested your assistance with a research project in the education area. The focus of the research is on factors which influence girls in the junior cycle and in their attitude to the selection of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.

The message from the parent follows.

The survey would greatly benefit from your input: estimated time to complete the survey is about 10 minutes.
(And that's about right, because I just completed it!)

The message follows below.

Kind Regards
CoderDojo Bray team

----------------------------------------

Accenture Ireland, my employer, is leading a research project in the education arena and I would greatly appreciate your support in promoting awareness among the Dojo parents with a view to maximising survey completion.

The target respondents are female students, parents, teachers and guidance counsellors and the primary objectives of the research are:

·         to understand the factors that influence girls in the junior cert cycle at secondary level in their attitude to and selection of STEM subjects

·         to better understand the challenges

·         to identify key trends and emerging influences

·         to assess within general population any gaps in understanding the opportunities around STEM, and the comfort level of parents in discussing related career options with their teenage daughters

Could you forward this email to the parents on the Bray CoderDojo mail list?

The research will be facilitated online via Survey Monkey between 16 and 27 September 2013, and may be accessed by clicking on the following link. You can also access the survey on our Accenture Careers Ireland Facebook page, or Accenture Ireland’s Twitter page. The estimated time for completing the survey is 10 minutes. The research is anonymous and no personal data will be collected.

The primary research forms a central part of ‘Women Invent Tomorrow’, a year-long campaign run by Silicon Republic to highlight the importance of closing the gender gap in science and technology, as well as championing and profiling inspirational women as role models in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, or STEM.

I would greatly appreciate your support in encouraging participation by you and the Bray CoderDojo parents and kids.
