... the new term of CoderDojo Bray!

Dear Parents,

we're planning to start back for a new season of CoderDojo in Bray, starting with a 6-week block from the 14th of September in Presentation College Bray.
Sessions will run on Saturday afternoon as before, from 2:30 to 4:30 or so.

We plan to issue ~100 places for this block of sessions, provided we have sufficient mentors to deal with them: that's about all we can physically fit into Pres.
Tickets will be issued via our online EventBrite website.

We will be covering HTML, Scratch, Python, Arduino and Raspberry Pi/Linux.

This year we also hope to introduce some robotics as part of the Arduino stream - although our robot kit supplier has not delivered yet, so we won't have the robot kits on the first day.
Robotics will require Arduino and C programming. We will also be looking at remote controlling the robots later in the year, using different technologies, and looking into linking up our HTML, Python, RPi and Arduino strands with some joint projects.

The rules are the same as last year:

* Children under 12 must to accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout the session. The parent/guardian must remain on the premises.
* A single ticket will be issued for the entire 6 week session. That means that if you get a ticket, you can come to all 6 sessions.
* Because we anticipate high demand for tickets, we will operate a ticket waiting list.
  - if you get a ticket, and do not use it, the ticket will be withdrawn and released to someone from the waiting list.

We'll be offering tea/coffee and some small snacks for sale during breaktime. This is our primary source of funds and allows us to buy electronics, monitors, robot kits etc.

As before, we will be issuing tickets in different categories.

* Children of active volunteers get priority booking
* Children with a better than 80% attendance record will get priority booking access
* NEW: children who mentor will get a special access Ninja ticket
* Everyone else will get access to book tickets on a first come, first served basis

This year, we want to encourage some of the kids who came last year, and who would like to help show what they've learned to new kids, to register for a special "Ninja" ticket.
Ninjas spend some of their time at the dojo each week helping the other kids, Ninjas get priority booking, and also we will set aside some guaranteed mentor time at the end of the session, just for the Ninjas, so that they can get guidance if they'd like on their own personal projects.

Several days notice will be given for booking tickets.

Priority booking notices will be issued during this week on Wednesday evening at 9pm.

The remaining tickets will go on general release next Sunday evening at 9pm.

So priority booking people will have from Wednesday to Sunday to claim their ticket. For everyone else, since there is likely to be a lot of demand for tickets, it is recommended you are near a computer at 9pm on Sunday :-)

Further notices with the link to the website where the tickets will be available will be next week.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces for a new year of CoderDojo.

Kind Regards
CoderDojo Bray team
