The Berkeley Police Department will be asked to arrest John Yoo
tomorrow at his house, 1241 Grizzly Peak Blvd. According to
international law professor Francis Boyle of the University of
Illinois, municipal police have jurisdiction to arrest war criminals,
which many consider John Yoo to be since he is complicit in the
torture of detainees in U.S. custody, a war crime under international
and U.S. laws. Yoo is one of the six former Bush Administration
lawyers being prosecuted in Spain. Yoo is also currently appealing a
June 12 ruling of Judge Jeffrey White of the Federal District Court
who decided that U.S. citizen Jose Padilla and his mother may go
forward with their lawsuit against Yoo for torture. They are asking
for $1 in damages.
Groups and individuals from CODEPINK Women for Peace, Progressive
Democrats of America, the National Accountability Network, the
Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists and others gather each
Sunday afternoon at Yoo's house to demand that UC Berkeley fire John
Yoo and that Attorney General Eric Holder Prosecute Yoo for Complicity
in Torture and Murder, Illegal Wiretapping, and Unethical and Immoral
Conduct. The protestors hold banners, pass out flyers about Yoo, sing,
chalk the street, and chat with passersby and Yoo's neighbors. His
next door neighbor bought a "Prosecute Torture" bumper sticker and
welcomes the protest. Other neighbors have invited protestors to use
their bathrooms; one submitted a slogan for CODEPINK's "Cheney Slogan
Contest" : "Cheney Is A War Criminal."
Several pairs of handcuffs are available if Yoo is spotted.
Refreshments tomorrow are fresh berry pie and lemonade.

WE NEED YOU TO JOIN US!
We don't need Yoo teaching law school- paid by our tax dollars to
teach at UC and going around the country bragging about how he kept
the nation safe by advising Bush and Cheney that it's legal to
torture, even children. We come to find out that Yoo also gave legal
advice that said illegal wiretapping is legal, and wrote another legal
memo that said it's legal to use the military on American soil. WRONG!
None of these is legal, ever. What kind of law school is UC to have a
faculty member who doesn't do legal research well, and who issues
legal opinions that continually had to be revoked because they were
shoddy and incorrect?
"Why is Yoo still teaching at UC Berkeley law school? The man actually
believes that it's ok to suspend the constitution and torture
children." said Cynthia Papermaster, one of the protest organizers.
SHAME ON YOO!
TELL UC TO DISMISS YOO:

TELL ATTORNEY GENERAL HOLDER TO PROSECUTE YOO NOW!
