updates to admin-cleanup-2 branch

As promised, I have updated the branch to:
* properly init devel/desktop environments
* use separate pids for frontend/backend

Not sure why you couldn't reply to the thread. The group management settings looked correct. 

Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Thank's a lot for the update. I'll have a look at the code as soon as I can. I'm currently spending most of my time on a big work project, so my codenode attention is unfortunately low, but it is absolutely great to see this progress! I'll set some time aside this weekend to review.

BTW there is some talk of you keyconfig branch fixing some issues -
was there any progress on that?
